On the week of September 24th, 2010, President Obama had a town hall meeting where he answered questions from regular people. The questions varied and the President answered most of them. However, the one that stood out was when he was told that people are getting tired of defending him. This one rang close to home to me because a lot of people are indeed frustrated with the government and they have the right to be. However, when I thought about it further I asked when was the last time George Bush or, any other President for that matter, did a town hall meeting when he was not up for election ? That is the différence between President Obama and the rest.

Is the situation in the US bad ? Absoluetly. Should the people be mad ? No doubt in my mind. But the question is who should they be mad at ? I am not going to be quick to blame the Republicans because I believe the Democrats must be blamed as well. However, there is no doubt that when President Obama took office we were in a mess because George W. Bush was a terrible president who ruined this country on every possible level. We had Republicans in control for at least 12 years since 1994 and that was the worst time ever. The blame comes on Democrats once they started took over the House of Representatives and the Senate.

In my opinion, Democrats should have began proceedings to impeach Bush once they took control of the House immediately. Just like Republicans tried to impeach Clinton about lying that he had a « sexual relation » with Monica Lewinsky. Democrats should have impeached Bush for lying about the presence of mass destruction in Iraq, for starting a completely unnecessary war, being a a war criminal, for wasting thousands of American lives and trillions of american tax dollars.

However, the Democrats did nothing and they do nothing once they are in control. They are a very weak side. They are not forceful. They do not jump on every opportunity to prove that the Republicans are wrong. They do not show the facts and they resort to be bystanders in the political game and then they wonder how they got themselves into this position. Why are they like that ? I do not know the answer. It could be that they are hopeful that the people will rise to the occasion. It could be there a lot of conservative Democrats who are not willing to move forward. It could also be that they are simply worried about their seats in the Senate.

Credit is due to the Republicans when it comes to getting their message out there. Even if that message is total garbage. They have an unbelievable machine to release garbage onto the world through media which they own a lot of it. You have your Fox Channel and your radio shows which is dominated overwhelmingly by conservatives and your newspapers and even the internet. They are very powerful when it comes to attacking the plans of the Democrats yet they never bring their own plan. That is because they have nothing ! They only have lies, lies and more lies.

On September 24, 2010 the Republicans released their dog, Sarah Palin, with a website to replace the 20 Democrats from districts the Republicans carried in 2008 who voted for the healthcare bill. This is only six months after the healthcare bill passed. They are saying that it failed knowing whole heartedly that not all provisions of the bill have taken place yet. Knowing that some of the important provisions took effect just couple of days earlier !!! However, Republicans believe the healthcare bill failed already and it must be repealed ! So, they will lie to the people and tell them that they want good conservatives who can repeal that law ! Even if these « good conservatives » came and replaced the Democrats. Even if they tried to repeal it, it would be an enormous waste of time. That is because if they have the majority, the President will veto the repeal and then it will require 2/3 majority in the House of Representatives and in the Senate which will flat out will not happen. So basically, they are lying to their own people and giving them false hopes.

Two years ago the word « Republican » was almost a dirty word. Now the Republicans are fighting to gain control of the House and the Senate. That is insane for several reasons. For the last two years the Republican party did nothing but block every little thing President Obama and the Democrats tried to pass. Every bill, every nomination, every program was blocked. They did not contribute anything positive. They are not looking out for the average American. They are the party of the rich. They are the party of No. To me, they are outright evil because they are trying to trump down the average American with no remorse none whatsoever.

The Republicans say they want to take « America back ». I take this literally because this is what they want. They want to take America backward and not forward. They want to bring back all the wrong things that Bush did. They want to extend the tax cuts to the rich people. They want to repeal the healthcare bill and deny coverage to 32 million americans. They want to stop the creation of jobs. They want to deny the unemployed of their welfare. And why all this ? So they can show that Obama failed. So they can show that the Democrats are wrong. How can that be good for anyone ?

The simple answer is : it is not good for anyone. It is good for the rich and the rich alone. Of course some will argue that if you give tax cuts to the rich then they would invest in our economy which means more business, more jobs, etc. Well, that is simply and factually wrong. We do not have to go far back in history to find out how wrong that is. George Bush was giving tax cuts to the rich like it was candy and what were the results ? Complete chaos. There was no business, there was no jobs and there was no growing economy. In fact, it was the exact opposite. And please, do not just blame it on 9/11 or any of that. It was the results of wrong policies that were implemented by a Republican president and approved by a Republican Senate.

And in 2010, they bring more of the same failed policies. In their « Pledge to America » which they introduced in September 23, 2010, they stated that they want to extend the Bush tax cuts for individuals making over $250,000 (a.k.a the rich). They want to cut government or basically take out all the rules so it would be a jungle again for the banks. And of course they want to reverse the healthcare reforms. Basically, they did not say anything new. They are repeating the same sad old story word for word from their 1994 « Contract for America »( or on America). But that does not even begin to describe how corrupt these people are. On September 24, The Examiner website released information that the author of the Pledge of America was not even the Republican Senators. It was a former lobbyist for companies such as AIG, ExxonMobile, and Pfizer. This pledge that was supposed to be the « voice of America » turned out to be the voice of corporations !!! Can there by any more proof that corporations are buying the Republicans ?? Can be any more proof that Republicans do not care about what the people want ? Republicans refuse to admit that they are working for coporations to and their policies ALWAYS fail.

History shows time and again that the Republicans never fix the economy. They make it worse. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research we were in a recession from July 1953 to May of 1954 in which Eisenhower, a Republican was president. Then again in August of 1957 until April of 1958 also under Eisenhower. And then another time from April of 1960 until February of 1961 under, you guessed it, Eisenhower. Thats 3 periods of recessions totalling 28 months or more than 2 years of his 8 years in office in a recession ! That is one quarter of his presidency ! And he was a Republican. But wait, there is more. From December 1969 to November of 1970 we were again in a recession. This time Nixon was a president and he was a Republican. And then again from November of 1973 to March of 1975 ( yup that is 16 months ) we were also in a recession under Nixon and Ford combined and both are Republicans. Then, we got another big hit in the 80s under Presiden Reagan with 1 recession from July 1981 to November of 1982. That is another 16 months of recession. Then again in July of 1990 until March of 1991 under president Bush Sr. Now I want you to guess how many months of recession we had under Clinton ? None my dear friends. We had none. And as you all know he was a Democrat. Not only did we have no recessions but we also had a budget surplus which was unheard of. But we got ourselves another Republican and we all know how did that go.

So, now I ask you do you have any doubt in your mind that Republicans do not know how to fix the economy ? The problem is not that they just do not know. It is the issue that they do not care or even want to fix it. They are happy just the way it is. As long as the rich is getting richer then they could care less. And that is why they are evil because they are killing any hope for any regular person out there and that is why no one should vote for the Republicans in any election.

Naturally, the past paragraph should have been a conclusion to this article. Naturally, you should have received the message by now. However, the problem is that a lot of Americans are bombarded everyday by the wrong information and they believe it. That is why in some polls it shows that 1 out of 5 believe the President is a Muslim or that he was not even born in America. Then we hear about how the President is a socialist. Then, we hear that he is from an Kenyan tribe that is trying to take over the US. Or he is a black man who just want to help the black community and all his accomplishments are put aside.

The truth is President Barack Obama has accomplished a lot of things and he is taking this country in the right direction. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research , the Recession that started in December of 2007 has ended in June of 2009. He bailed the auto industry which is now making profits. The economy is slowly but surely growing. It will take some time and time is never on anyone's side. But it is something that we must bare. President Obama passed the healthcare bill which will provide insurance for another 32 million americans who were not covered before. Young people can now remain on parent's insurance until the age of 26. There shall be no discrimination against children with pre-existing conditions. There shall be no dropping people from coverage when they get sick. There shall be no lifetime limits on coverage. New plans must offer free preventive care. This all adds up to basically more patient protections than we have ever had !

The president accomplished many things which benefited the country greatly and will continue to benefit the country for many years to come. But the people are expecting everything to be solved in a matter of seconds. I think the country and the people have just been so frustrated for such a long time that they are taking out on the Democrats and Obama because they are currently in control.

I also believe that the president has promised to change too many things in such a short time and that is impossible. The problem is that because we were so frustrated we believed that president Obama was able to do it. However, we need to understand that he is no superman. We need to turn off Fox Channel. We need to stop listening to Beck, Hannity, O'reilly, Limbaugh, Palin and such. We need to look at the facts. There is no denying that President Obama made progress. He deserves credit for trying to improve this country, for trying to turn the economy around, and for trying to work with Republicans who never had the intentions of working with him.

In 2004, when it was very clear that Bush was a complete moron, a liar, and a person who just does not care about the regular American, it was my assumption that Kerry should win. However, Bush did. While Kerry was not a great candidate, he was not a bad one either. Especially when he was compared to Bush. To this day I am not really sure why. I feel this is what is going to happen in the elections of 2010. While this is not what I hope or wish for. But, I feel that Republicans will probably win some seats in both the House and the Senate. Would they win the majority ? Certainly a possibility.

This can only be stopped by people who vote for anyone but the Republicans. You don't have to support the Democrats but I urge everyone not to support the Republicans.

I was told once that I was a hero in reading and not in writing. That was in sixth grade. I was told that because my writing was always "hors sujet" or was out of the subject and that I was too imaginative....  View profile
