The 2010 Emmy Nominations have been announced from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The Academy released the Emmy nominations today, July 8, 2010 and there are a few surprises in the mix.

No Surprise Here, Lost Gets Emmy Nominations
The ABC networks popular drama, Lost, which just finished its series in the last month, received 12 nominations. Lost has been nominated for an Emmy for the best drama, best actor Matthew Fox and O'Quinn and Emerson from the show "Lost" received nominations for supporting actor.

Breaking Bad Receives Emmy Nominations

The Academy nominated the show, Breaking Bad, for best drama, and two time Emmy winner Bryan Cranston received an Emmy nomination for best leading actor while Aaron Paul is in the running for best supporting actor.

Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien

Although the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien no longer exists, it still received a nomination from the Academy for outstanding variety, music, or comedy series.

The Pacific Gets Emmy Nominations

The popular show, The Pacific, on HBO received Emmy nominations as well; 24 nominations to be exact. The miniseries is based on WWII and is produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. The Pacific miniseries from HBO has received more Emmy nominations than any other show for the 2010 Emmy awards show. The new hit show Glee received 19 nominations and placed second in the amount of Emmy nominations for a show or miniseries.

Mad Men Rakes in 17 Emmy Nominations

It should be no surprise that the AMC drama, Mad Men, would have a hefty amount of nominations from the Academy and it would not be surprising if the actors and producers of the show walk away with the an armload of Emmy nominations.

Dr. House Gets Nod from the Academy

Hugh Laurie is up for lead actor in the category of drama for his role as Dr. House on the popular Fox television show, House. The season has been chock full of Emmy worthy performances from Laurie.

30 Rock Won Best Comedy in 2009-Repeat in 2010?

The wildly popular and hilarious NBC show, 30 Rock received a nomination for Best Comedy-which they won last year. Will 30 Rock win again in 2010, we'll find out August 29, 2010 on NBC. Jimmy Fallon will host the 2010 Emmy Awards show.

American Idol Season 9 Nominated

This is the last season for Simon Cowell and the addition of Ellen DeGeneres as a judge caused the ratings for this reality show to go through the roof. It is no surprise that the Academy would nominate American Idol for the best reality competition category. Many predict American Idol winning this award.

The above is not at all an all-inclusive list of the shows and actors/actresses that have been nominated for an Emmy. These shows and actors have truly shined this year and our, in some peoples opinion, the front runners for winning an Emmy.
