The 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

A Different Kind of Coupe

Seth Joyner
The 2010 Mercedes E350 is a fine looking coupe; although it's not really an E-class per say. The 2010 Mercedes E350 is actually the modified body of the CLK only two inches longer. Mercedes Benz is discontinuing the production of the CLK class and replacing it with the E350 coupe. The E350 coupe from the outside is a sharp looking Euro-sport two door. From a forward perspective the Mercedes E350 is a very different beast, with odd signal fog lights and four acute headlights, with a casual front end. If the Mercedes E350 where an animal it would be a cheetah prepared to pounce on its prey with its unmistakable aggressive front end styling. It appears that the Mercedes E350 is in plain competition with the GS line of Lexus. Moving past the smooth rear quarters to the subtly rounded bumper which accents the rectangular dual exhaust tips; one can't help but think that this E350 coupe has some serious style going on. The Mercedes E350 is easy on the eyes from a side profile; clean and simple without the entanglements of a B-pillar, and yes all of the windows go completely down if you're wondering. The Mercedes E350 rolls on 17 inch cast aluminum wheels wrapped in all season treads.

The Mercedes E350 comes with a respectable engine; a V6 that produces 268 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 258ftlbs of torque between a splendid 2400-5000 rpm power band. Fuel mileage is 16 mpg city and 23mpg highway. The Mercedes E350 engine is bolted to a smooth shifting seven speed automatic which incidentally is the same transmission that's in the E550's 382 horsepower V8's transmission tunnel. The seven speed automatic transfers power smoothly and effortlessly to the limited slip rear end which works well at the drag strip. The Mercedes E350 rockets from zero to 60 mph in a short jaunt of 6.5 seconds; this is pretty amazing considering that the curb weight of the E350 Coupe is right at 3,700 pounds. The E350 and the E550 share the same suspension setups with three link McPherson struts in the front and a five point multi link design in the rear. Along with the suspension the new chassis has had some structural design modifications made; the new chassis has 27% more torsion rigidity than the previous.

The Mercedes E350 has an absolutely stunning interior. Navigation is placed at eye level in the center of the dash; the doors are accented in two-tone with the same fabric as the seats with brushed aluminum accents. There are a wide variety of interior color choices available and the interior seating is contrasted between its color and black accents. For the business man or the professional working woman the 2010 Mercedes E350 is definitely a strong player when it comes to luxury sport coupes. So, how much will the 2010 E350 set you back? About 48,000 clam shells, but if you are in this income bracket and your looking to improve your image with a professional coupe then this one's for you.
