The 2010 Nissan Sentra SE-R

No Longer a Two Door Tin Can

The days of ole are long gone where the Sentra SE-R was the king of the naturally aspirated sport compacts between 91' and 94'. The classic Sentra SE-R was a 140 horsepower dynamo at 2400 pounds and a two door; the new 2010 Sentra SE-R is no longer offered as a two door only a four door sedan for Nissan's lineup. The 2010 Sentra is a far cry from the old days, however with today's new safety standards it's hard to produce a lightweight tin can; with more and more manufacturers concerned with marketing safety features the 2010 Sentra SE-R has gained considerable weight over the years. The 2010 Sentra SE-R weighs in at a robust 3,115 pounds. The 2010 Sentra SE-R's power plant has changed over the years, but is still rocking a DOHC four cylinder. Displacement is up to 2.5 liters; pushing the Sentra SE-R is 177 horsepower and an impressive 172ftlbs of torque. With large diameter wheels and an unsavory power to weight ratio the Sentra SE-R only makes it from zero to 60 mph in eight seconds. This slow time is also made in thanks to the undesirable CVT (constant variable transmission), which is essentially gearless and is only there supposedly for efficiency and fuel economy. The CVT equipped 2010 Sentra SE-R does however have paddle shifts so at least you have some control over the seemingly shiftless slush-box. Although, the CVT isn't designed too well for performance it does help out quite a bit in the fuel economy arena. The 2010 Sentra SE-R get 26 mpg in the city and 34 mph on the highway.

There have been many changes made to the 2010 Sentra SE-R especially in the way of outside cosmetics; for 2010 the Sentra SE-R receives new taillights, headlights, and an improved front fascia and grill. 17 inch aluminum alloy wheels are utilized to complete the look. Another new thing about the 2010 Sentra SE-R that will please consumers is the drop in price from 2009; the new 2010 Sentra SE-R can be had for 1,080 dollars less than before and it also has a new low cost optional navigation system to boot. The Sentra SE-R is competing in its class with the likes of the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic even though it is considerably larger. In fact the new Sentra SE-R is so large that it is within two-tenths of an inch in length from Nissan's flagship the Altima.

On the inside there are more SE-R clues for the interior cabin. Upscale leather seats await the passenger and driver. The 2010 Sentra SE-R also comes with two pod gauges that hold an oil pressure gauge and a much not needed lateral G-force gauge. The most important improvement to the 2010 Sentra SE-R comes via its 4.3 inch basic touch screen navigation system. Overall the new 2010 Sentra SE-R is a good deal offering decent body styling, leather, and navigation for a base price of 20,300 dollars.
