The 2010 Preble County Pork Festival is a Great Family Idea This September

The Preble County Pork Festival is a tradition that started in 1971. Held always the third weekend in September, the 40th Annual Preble County Pork Festival will be held this year on Saturday the 18^th and Sunday the 19^th at the Preble County Fairgrounds in Eaton, Ohio. This year the Pork Festival expects almost 500 vendors and record-breaking crowds for both days. The Pork Festival is a family event with free admission and free parking! Some of the highlighted events include a Grand Parade, live entertainment, petting zoo, hundreds of arts, and crafts (many with a pig theme), and racing pigs!

Exhibits open at 8am both days; however, Preble County Fairgrounds open at 6:30am serving sausage and pancakes until 10:30am ($6 for adults and $3 for kids 5 to 10). Also open from 9am to 9pm on Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sunday is the Porkhaus Short Order Restaurant serving some of the best pork in the world. Other eateries include the BBQ Pork Chop Smorgasboard open on Saturday from 11am to 8pm and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. The price is $13 for adults and $6 for kids ages 5 to 10.

The Preble County Festival will have plenty to offer for the entire family. There will be fun and games and arts and crafts for the kids, including baby pigs on display. At 2pm in the Grandstands on Sunday, there will be a pedal tractor pull, and registration begins an hour prior. The petting zoo will stay open during exhibit open hours (8am to close). And racing pigs will perform action packed racing throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday! By far the best feature of the Preble County Pork Festival will be the smell of BBQ Pork lingering throughout the fairgrounds.

Directions: There are two openings into the Preble County Fairgrounds, one from 122 South and a main gate entrance from U.S. 35 East. From I-70, take exit 10 South on SR 127 and make a left on U.S.35 and head west for 1 mile, enter Fairgrounds on the right. From 1-75, take U.S. 35 West for approximately 23 miles, enter Fairgrounds on the left.
