The 2010 Screen Actor Guild SAG Awards Show Recap

The 2010 Sag Awards: a Synopsis.

It takes backseat to the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards, the fact that it was aired on TNT and TBS alone is a testament to this, but it may mean more to an actor personally considering they are being honored by their peers.

Comedy

The nominees for the men was packed full of talent, including the leading men from two of my favorite TV shows (Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock and Steve Carell for The Office) not to mention one of the writers on arguably the most clever sitcom ever, Larry David. Yet, the female nominees pale in comparison. The winner, Tina Fey, is a funny lady with a great television show and career, yet her competition pales in comparison to Alec Baldwin, who won for the men. Christinia Applegate, who was nominated for a show that was cancelled due to poor ratings, Julia Louis-Dreyfus who is an amazing actresses in a mediocre at best television show, Edie Falco and Toni Collette, both for television shows on Showtime which I don't subscribe to, and I do not know anyone who watches either. Do women simply fail when it comes to comedy?

Felicity Huffman

What's her deal? Is she a closet alcoholic and we are just finding out? Is she suffering from an addiction to painkillers? This is the second awards show in a row she botched her lines. At the Golden Globes she couldn't even get a sentence out without stumbling over and restarting the same sentence. At this award show she claimed to be unable to read the teleprompter because she didn't have her glasses on. Didn't they do some sort of run through for issues like this? How about contacts? Why wouldn't get wear something if she knew she had to read a teleprompter.

Drew Barrymore

She won the Golden Globe last week, she has been in Hollywood since she was a young child and she can't pull it together to just get up there and give a short speech? I don't know what this excessive humility schtick is, but it is irritating and not endearing. Sandra Bullock had a really sweet, down to earth acceptance speech, divulging her exile from Hollywood after filming a bunch of bombs and how her role in the film Crash was able to have directors consider her again for real roles.

Inglorious Bastards

I am so glad this film won, I think that it was highly underrated by critics. From the plot, character development, witty and engaging dialogue, I just think it was an overall brilliant film.
