The 2011 NASCAR Kobalt Tools 400 Lineup for Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Matt Kenseth Takes the Pole for the Third Race of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season
Only a few cars were standing between Ambrose and a pole start after he blistered the field and took the provisional pole by a full tenth of a second. Carl Edwards came close, but couldn't get the job done, missing the mark Ambrose set by 1/100th of a second. He showed his admiration for Ambrose by playfully bumping the driver from down under with the front of his Ford as Ambrose gave a garage interview.
Matt Kenseth came out and set the track on fire by eclipsing Ambrose's time by another full tenth of a second to take the pole for Sunday's race. The only driver not to make the field was Brian Keselowski who, after a Cinderella story at Daytona has missed the field the last two races.
