Woodland Park Zoo is once again hosting the Washington Mutual-sponsored ZooTunes Summer Concert Series, set to begin with the Indigo Girls on June 17th at 6pm. The crowd is already standing in line for their tickets (limit 8) to go onsale at Metropolitan Markets around Seattle. With most shows selling out every year, you're either at the ticket outlet early or you're left behind scrambling to get the golden tickets via Craigslist or eBay (ouch!).

With their critically-acclaimed new release "Despite Our Differences", The Indigo Girls are set to start rocking the stage on June 17th. They bring under their wing the new folk/rock sensation Brandi Carlile, set to perform on June 27th. Brandi can be heard on The Indigo Girls' song "Last Tears" off their new album. Likewise, The Indigo Girls returned the favor by singing on Brandi's track "Cannonball" off her new release "The Story".

In another fun twist, you get folk/country's favorite angel Patty Griffin on July 18th for her return to Seattle. As you may remember, she headlined at The Moore on March 19, 2007 to a sold-out crowd. Her new cd "Children Running Through" has been the talk of the indy-driven city since its release on February 6, 2007. This is your chance to catch her live.

The concert schedule is as follows:

  • June 17 - Indigo Girls - $24
  • June 20 - Herbie Hancock Trio - $21
  • June 27 - Brandi Carlile - $19
  • July 18 - Patty Griffin - $21
  • July 25/26 - Pink Martini - $26.50
  • July 29 - Great Big Sea - $19
  • August 1 - Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - $19
  • August 8 - Robert Earl Keen/Todd Snider - $17
  • August 15 - Old Crow Medicine Show/The Be Good Tanyas - $17

All tickets will go onsale to the general public at 8:00am on Monday, May 7, 2007. Ticket locations can be found on the following website: http://www.zoo.org/zootunes/tickets.html . Arrive early and be prepared to wait in line. These tickets are going to go fast!
