The 2nd Annual Lawton Renaissance Festival
Join in All the Fun of Daily Life in a 16th Century Medieval Village
A sixteenth century village will come to life on East Lee Boulevard in Lawton. Continuous entertainment will be available with nearly 50 shows each day on 5 stages. There will be something for everyone: comedy, tragedy, Renaissance music, dancing and action. Featured performers will be the jousting knights of Hanlon-Lees action theater from Hollywood, "The Bilge Pumps", a comedic group of musical pirates, and "The Brothers Dimm" who will retell your favorite fairy tales in their own special way. "Knitty Knockers" will lead you on a wild journey through the history of underwear while "Teribus", a trio of drum and bagpipe players, will treat you to beautiful music both old and new. "The Ladies of the Salty Kiss" will have you laughing yourself silly and "Wrapsody" will amaze you with their acrobatics.
Watch medieval knights jousting with sword and lance, or try your hand at unique games such as "Balloon Fencing" or "Peg a Beggar". A "Children's Realm" will offer fun recreational activities for the youngest lords and ladies, as well as "Story Time with the Queen".
The shopping will be an adventure that cannot be experienced anywhere else. Over 25 merchants, artists and craftsmen will be offering unique products and gift items such as handcrafted medieval leather goods, treasure boxes, hair jewelry, Native American flutes, Oklahoma wines, carved furniture, wooden instruments, medieval armor and weaponry, and much more.
You will not go hungry while visiting the festival either. Food vendors will be offering tasty delicacies like fiery dragon wings, peasant pudding, gelato ice cream, smoked turkey legs, kettle corn, and other tasty treats.
The royal jousting takes place at 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. The schedule of other events can be checked out by going to http://www.lawtonrenfest.com.
The 2007 festival will be held the first two weekends in June, (June 2-3 and June 9-10) and will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. It is located at 11101 S.E. Lee Blvd. in Lawton, which is 7.5 miles east of I-44 on Highway 7/Lee Blvd. Tickets are general admission and cost $10 for adults, and $6 for children ages 5-12. Children ages 4 and under are free.
