IndigoRacer

The 2nd Annual We Ride For Those Who Can't Remembrance Run was held on Saturday, September 3rd at Hotrodz of Fayetteville. About 200 bikes took part in this annual event to raise money to help send local ex-POWs to The Ride Home in Andersonville, GA over the POW-MIA Recognition Day weekend. There were several vendors and displays on site, including Mayhem Street Riders, Operation Helping Hands for Heroes, Patriot Hunts, Freedom Biker Church, Tumbleweed Junction Paracord Bracelets, Liberty Racing, the POW Bucket, and Chick-fil-a; many of them providing donations or giving proceeds to the ride.

The bikers starting arriving at 8:00a.m., and they quickly filled the grassy area behind Hotrodz. Overflow parking had to be opened beside the building. The bikers were treated to breakfast from Chick-fil-a and there were raffles and other activities on site.

At 10:30 there was a riders safety meeting and a prayer led by pastor J.D. Tew from Freedom Biker Church. Wayne Daniels, owner of the POW Bucket tribute car donated the proceeds from a recent fundraising event held in Franklinton, NC to Patriot Hunts. The money will be used to take the children of 30 Warriors killed in action on a private hunting trip at the Allen brothers Hunting Preserve.

The ride began heading South on Bragg BLVD, and 62 miles later the bikers stopped at Freedom Memorial Park in downtown Fayetteville to watch members of Rolling Thunder Chapter 1 NC conduct the Missing Man Table Ceremony. They tearfully listened as the names of North Carolina's Missing In Action from the Vietnam War were read. Many people don't realize there are still more than 75,000 Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Navy personnel still listed as missing in action from all wars. A special guest, Rudy Hernandez attended the ceremony. Rudy is a Medal of Honor recipient from the Korean War.

After the ceremony all the riders headed back to Hotrodz for a late lunch, more raffle drawings, and pictures. Make sure to mark your riding calendar for the 3rd Annual We Ride For Those Who Can't Remembrance Run scheduled for Labor Day Weekend 2012.
