The 4 Most Disappointing Athletes of All Time: Mike Tyson No. 1?

SP
#4 Allen Iverson. The answer has barely been the answer thus far in his career. This was a hard one especially since he's still playing, but I felt like he is a bigger disappoint than Karl Malone and Reggie Miller. Every year when the playoffs come around he disappoints you time after time. We all know that he has the skills so why can't he produce? He doesn't get other players involved, he doesn't make clutch shots, and he plays to shoot first pass second. He hasn't had the best players around him but he should at least have a title by now or had made it to more NBA Finals. If he was a better team player or carried his self with a better attitude good players would want to play with him. I mean, come on. At the beginning of Carmelo Anthony's career do you really think he wanted Iverson to join his team? I don't. At the end of the day he's one of the biggest disappointing stars and I can't see him winning a championship before his career is over.

#3 Barry Sanders. Yes the great Barry Sanders. One of the greatest running backs of all time but also he was very disappointing. Not showing up in big games for the most part. I know the running back is only as good as his blockers, but with his abilities he should have produced more. All of the first round knock outs don't make sense. Then he quit on his team when he still had the ability to produce and when he was close to breaking the all time rushing yards record. Why did he retire when he did who knows, but one thing I do know is that he was a great disappointment!

#2 Jim Kelly. Those sure were some good Buffalo Bills teams but they couldn't win it all with Jim Kelly. I hate to put Jim Kelly at #2 because I think it's an accomplishment in it's own to make it to the Super Bowl but I think it's a bigger disappointment to make it four times and not win at least once! Come on just one Kelly. One! I bet he dreamed up one. If he was good enough to take his team there, he was good enough to win it, no matter what you. Year after year he broke Buffalo Bills fans heart.

#1 Mike Tyson. Iron Mike is a bigger disappointment then all the rest. I can remember growing up as a kid and playing Mike Tyson Punch Out! He was once probably the most loved athlete even more then Michael Jordan. Until his first defeat he looked like the greatest athlete ever and unbeatable. He shouldn't have lost his first fight and going to prison made things worst on his career. Then all the rest of the negative stuff he did outside of the ring really hurt his career also. I really hate to put Mike at number one but I had to because I loved watching him and expected so much out of him but he disappointed us all. He was one of the few athletes who I never wanted to see lose and always expected to win. Another thing is was his mindset. I believe he has some mental problems that should have been watched closely and controlled. If he would have had just one positive person that mentored him through his boxing career and his life outside boxing we could have been calling him the greatest athlete of all time. Although he's the most disappointing athlete of all time, he's still my favorite boxer of all time.

Roger Clemens I would say is the most disappointing athlete of all time. There's probably not a single kid or young minor league pitcher who looked to Roger as his idol. A man who displayed his best while keeping a low public profile. Then it all crashed, the lying, the steroids, the image loss. Now autograph houses can't even book him.

After everything he has done recently I think he is even worse then Bonds.

The 3rd leading scorer of all time is on this list? I can't believe he couldn't make Glenn Robinson, Keith van Horn, and Eric Snow better players. What a second none of those players play in the NBA anymore. The real shame is that Allen Iverson couldn't make Billy King better.

BTW_Shouldn't Melo average at least 8.5 rebounds and 5 assists a game? As much as he gets double teamed and at his size?? I would put him on this list before Allen Iverson.

His style of play or image has nothing to do with why I put him on the list. If practice wasn't important why would couches make players practice? If you didn't practice you would just be out there playing your own game like Iverson does. You make no sense Jay and you sound like Allen. If he's your favorite basketball player just say so but make it seem like what I wrote isn't true. I mean he had one great season.... just one! Yeah he was the MVP that year but who good in east that year and the Lakers killed them in the Finals. I 'm not an Iverson hated which is why I think he's a big disappointment.

I have to say that I don't agree with Iverson being on this list what so ever. There are a ton of NBA players I can think that are way more dissappointing then Iverson. The writer said Iverson doesn't make clutch shots and is dissappointing in the playoffs? What player are you watching? Yes, the Nuggets have not done anything in the playoffs, but they didn't anything befor Iverson came there, Carmelo Anthony is by far the most dissappointing on that entire team. I understand that a guy like Iverson will always have his fair share of critics simply because of his style of play and his image, but some people are just flat out unfair when it comes to that guy..give it a rest already, and please for the love of god shut up already about the "practice" thing, how could the guy be as great of an athlete as he is if he didn't practice? This article is silly. While you may think he is dissappointing (im sure he could care less) the millions that respect the guy, wether YOU like it or not.

Yes I could of put Tracy McGrady in his place and I even thought about it but Allen was far more talented in his prime then Tracy. I mean come on... Allen could never make it to practice. How can you expect to win a title with his attitude and the way he plays? If he made better decisions on and off the court he would have a title. I don't care him going to the Finals either because nobody in the east was good that year. Bottom line is when ever you get excited to watch him play or expect him to win he doesn't. If he wasn't so talented he wouldn't have made the list. What has he done since he's been in Denver? Nothing! He's a bad influence on Carmelo. So whether you like it or not he's a big disappointment.

I agree with Matt.....atleast AI went to the Finals and has advanced further than the first round many times. Instead of AI you should put someone like Tracy McGrady because he has never advance pass the first round in his career. That is a disappointing athlete.

i cant believe a star like allen iverson is in this list. All the awards and numbers he 's been putting up. Theres no way he should be in this list. There are numerous of athletes that didn't win a championship and out of all of them you pick iverson. That is terrible.
