The 5 Best '80s Christmas Movies of All Time

The '80s were good for something...we got some really awesome Christmas movies! I know I'll probably get some hate mail for saying this but the best Christmas movie of all time that came out of the 80s was National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I know, most people would say A Christmas Story which is in my opinion the second best movie.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989), is a gut busting, side splitting, laugh out loud comedy about joys of Christmas. Clark W. Griswold Jr. only wanted to have a fun old fashioned Christmas surrounded by all his family. Nothing goes as planned yet Clark is determined to have a Happy Christmas.

A Christmas Story (1983), is a family comedy about a boy named Ralphie that tries to convince everyone that he should get a Red Rider BB gun for Christmas. Of course, everyone he tries to convince tells him he'll shoot his eye out.

Die Hard (1988), yeah that's right...Die Hard. It's my number three pick of all time greatest Christmas movies of the 80s. Watching Die Hard during the holidays is as common as having pumpkin pie after Christmas dinner. NYC cop, John McClain, is in LA to visit his family for Christmas. It's Christmas Eve and John shows up at his wife's office Christmas party where terrorist take over the entire office building and hold all employees hostage. McClain wages war against the terrorist and plan to rescue the hostages.

Bill Murray is one of the best comedic actors out there. In the 1988 Christmas hit, Scrooged, Murray plays Frank Cross a modern day scrooge. Frank is a selfish TV big wig that gets visited by the three spirits of Christmas and realizes that he must change.

Santa Claus The Movie (1985) starring Dudley Moore and John Lithgow. This is a story of Santa's head elf, Patch (Moore) who goes out on his own and teams up with a toy manufacturer (Lithgow) who wants to take over the Christmas market and get rid of Santa Claus.
