Peanut Butter Dip
This one is definitely my favorite out of all the recipes that I will discuss in this article. All you need are 3 ingredients for this one: microwave popcorn, peanut butter, and honey. Place a package of microwave popcorn in the microwave to cook. While the popcorn is popping in the microwave grab a bowl and mix up your dip. Spoon out two large heaping spoonfuls of creamy peanut butter, and one spoonful of honey. Mix this together. I always take a small taste of the dip before serving it with the popcorn to see if it needs a bit more honey or not. Sometimes I am in the mood for it to be a bit sweeter so I add a tad more honey, other times I use a bit less. You can spoon dip out into individual bowls for everyone, or you can share one bowl of dip. It really is a delicious treat!
Mexican Popcorn
If you and your family enjoy Mexican food, then you should surely give this recipe a try. This recipe uses pop corn kernels instead of microwaveable popcorn. Take 1/2 cup of popcorn and 2 tablespoons of oil and put them in a covered pot. Heat over medium heat and shake as the kernels pop. After all the kernels are popped, in a separate bowl melt 1/4 cup of butter and mix in one packet of taco seasoning. Pour the butter mixture over the popped popcorn and toss to coat. Serve it up and enjoy!
Nerdy Corn
Next to the peanut butter dip, this one is my kids favorite choice. You will need about 8 or 9 cups of popped popcorn for this recipe. I most often have microwave popcorn around, but occasionally we will have a bag of the pre-popped popcorn and I will use that for this, it just makes it even easier. Pour the popcorn into a clean large brown paper bag, next pour a box of Nerds candy into the bag. Then in a saucepan put 1/3 cup of sugar, 3 tablespoons of butter, and 1 tablespoon of corn syrup. Bring this to a boil over medium heat and stir it continually. Boil for one minute and then pour over the popcorn and candy mixture. Fold the bag over and shake it around like crazy to coat the popcorn fully. Scoop out into bowls and dig in!
Savory Popcorn
Take your already popped popcorn and sprinkle it with Italian flavored Shake n Bake mix. Then pour 1/3 cup melted butter over the popcorn. Spread the popcorn out onto a baking sheet and bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. This makes a really savory and different tasting popcorn. My kids don't like it nearly as much as I do, but they are more for the sweet tastes than the savory ones. All I have to say about this one is yummy!
Easy Cheesy Popcorn
I am saving the easiest recipe for last. Pop your popcorn. Sprinkle with shake Parmesan cheese, and eat it. Can't get much more simple than that! This is my go to recipe for when I want something different but don't feel like messing with my other recipes.
None of the recipes above are that complex, but some do take a bit more time and energy than others. Pick a new recipe to try each and every week for a while. You will find that you will begin to want to experiment with other popcorn flavors and come up with some of your own special movie night treats!
