In the history of college football, the 2006 Orange Bowl, where Penn State beat Florida Statei 26 -23 in triple overtime, is the most exciting college bowl game of all time. The game pitted the two most powerful offenses of the season amd two winningest coaches in the history of college football ...Joe Paterno of Penn State and Bobby Bowden of FSU. After an intense battle in regulation time, in all boiled town to the superiority of Penn State's kicking game in the 3rd overtime period, where FSU missed a 38 yard field goal and Penn State scored on a 29 yard field goal attempt

The 2000 Orange Bowl where the Michigan Woverines beat the Crimson Tide of Alabama 35 - 34 in overtime was the second most exciting and memborable college bowl of all time. In a tight, offensive battle between Michigan's passing offense and Alabama's powerul rushing offense, the wolverines who had dominated the 4th quater came from behind to tie the game and send it into overtime. The battle continued into overtime where Michgan outscored Alabama 7-6, the victory coming on a missed PAT by Alabama.

Texas amd Michigan put on an offensive fireworks display in the 2005 Rose Bowl. In a seesaw battle between these two powerhouse offenses. Tied 14 - 14 at half-time, Michigan came out fired up and scored 17 points to dominate the 3rd quarter. Texas domnated the 4th quarter outscoring Michigan 17- 6 to regain the lead and hold on to win this classic battle.

In the Sugar Bowl Classic of 1988, Syracuse and Auburn played to a 16 -16 tie in a solid defensive battle. Syracuse was ranked 4th in the nation and had an unbeaten season for the first time since 1959 when they went undefeated and won the national championship. This Sugar Bowl tie kept Syrcause's season record unblemished, with no losses. It wasn't until 1996 that overtime was introduced into post-season college bowl games.

The 1991 Orange Bowl was another of the most memorable college bowl games in history. In a tightly fought defensive battle, Colorado won the game 10 - 9, although the game almost went the other way. In the final seconds of the game, Raghib Ismail of Notre Dame ran back a punt 92 yards for what appeared to be the game winning score for the Fighting Irish. The play was nullified on what Notre Dame fans believe was a highly controversial clipping penalty, to preserve the victory for Colorado.
