The 5 Things Every Guy Should Have When They Go Out

What You Need to Bring to Be Prepared

Jim Kelly
Going out to parties and bars and clubs is the best way to meet new people and get noticed. Every guy hates bringing too much stuff with them when they go out though and would prefer to go out with just the bare minimum. Some things are absolutely necessary though and should never be left at home and some things will help you out in the long run with others.

First, every guy should have their drivers license. The only way to get into a bar or a club is to show proper identification. Even if you're just going to a house party for the night, don't get caught unprepared when people start heading out for the bar because the party was lame. Plus, after a night of boozing they might need to call a cab to get you home, and your address would help point them in the right direction.

Second, every guy should carry cash. You should always carry more than less but don't go overboard. Carry enough for drinks, tips, a cab ride, and some food. Tip heavy when bartenders are looking and make sure they see you if not, you might be able to dodge one or two but it's not recommended. Have enough on you to last the whole night, don't get caught without any.

Third, every guy should carry matches or a lighter. I'm not a smoker but every time I go out I bring one of these with me. Reason being is a lot of the time you go out and people are looking to take a drag and most of the time it seems they don't have a light. Matches are classy, but bring a lighter if you can't handle them without burning yourself. You don't want to look like a fool in front of the blonde who just asked you for a light.

Fourth, every guy should carry their cell phone. Keep the thing on vibrate though and don't check compulsively every ten minutes. People notice you if you're in the corner or in the middle of the club and taking out your phone says "I'm bored" or "I have better things to do" or "I'm insecure." None of these will help you in the long run. However, keep that baby on you in case you need to call for a ride or store a new phone number.

Fifth, every guy should carry a bottle opener. Another one along the lines of the lighter and matches. A bottle opener is clearly not necessary in a club or at a bar, but house parties are a definite for bringing these handy tools. If someone knows you have a bottle opener they'll becoming back to you all night. It might get annoying opening bottles for people all night, but you'll definitely be remembered, for more than one reason.
