The 9/11 Never Forget Coalition to Launch December 5th Protest

Mark Whittington
The decision by the Obama administration to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four of his fellow terrorists has outrage many, but none more so that a group of people who have formed the "9/11 Never Forget Coalition."

The 9/11 Never Forget Coalition consists of "9/11 victims, family members, first responders, active and reserve members of the military, veterans, and concerned Americans" who are outraged at the creation of what amounts to a show trial for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and others in a civilian court in the middle of New York, not more than walking distance from the scene of the greatest war crime of the 21st Century.

At a November 24th press conference, the 9/11 Never Forget Coalition announced plans for a December 5th rally to protest the trying of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other terrorists in a New York civilian court. The 9/11 Never Forget Coalition has also set up a letter to be sent to President Obama to that effect that anyone can sign at the Keep America Safe site.

The protest plans of the 9/11 Never Forget Coalition take place against a backdrop of not only rising concern for the security problems trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the other terrorists in New York will entail, but plans by the terrorists' lawyers to, in effect, try to put the Bush administration and American foreign policy on trial.

Scott Fenstermaker, one of the legal team handling the terrorists' defense, was unapologetic about the legal strategy. During an interview on Bill O'Reilly, Fenstermaker actually refused to acknowledge that his clients had done murder. Fenstermaker did not elaborate how this could be so, since millions of people saw it happen in real time and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed had already confessed. Will Fenstermaker claim temporary insanity? Justifiable homicide?

David Kelley, purveyor of weird legal dramas, would have flinched at using this real life situation as a story line in one of his shows. Alan Shore at his most radical would have refused the case. Denny Crane at his most senile would have run away as fast as he could.

"You know people hate you, right?" Bill O'Reilly asked.

Fenstermaker suggested that anyone who hates him must also hate the rule of law.

This is the sort of "thinking like a lawyer" that even Professor Kingsfield on 'The Paper Chase' would have blanched from. One expects lawyers to detach themselves from their moral compass in order to defend indefensible clients. But one does not expect lawyers to have no moral compass to begin with.

It is sad that over eight years after 9/11 the folks at the 9/11 Never Forget Coalition have to protest insane policies from a government that seems to not realize that we are in a war. But that, dear readers, is where we find ourselves in the era of hope and change.

Before the Khalid Shaikh Mohammed Circus comes to town attracting freak shows and illusionists to the midway, I thought the following information would be of interest:

Todd Beamer's memorial service was held on 09/16/01 at the Princeton Alliance Church in Plainsboro, New Jersey. Todd Beamer's wife, Lisa Beamer, a grieving mother of two and four months pregnant with her third child, registers TODDBEAMER.ORG four days later on 09/20/01, incorporates The Todd M. Beamer Memorial Foundation eight days later on 9/24/01 and then applies for the trademark "Let's Roll" ten days later on 9/26/01. Instead of acting like a wife and mother who should be experiencing untold grief and loss her behavior turns a catastrophic personal tragedy into a cold and calculating cheap publicity stunt. But then, the U S Government's 9/11 propaganda machine needed heroes as well as villains paraded through the media to support endless wars that murder indigenous people for control of their natural resources.

The New York police and firemen should strike, if Eric Holder tries to put the terrorists on trial in NY. Any city he tries to move them to, should do the same. That would stop this insane idea. Real Americans could establish a nation wide fund to support the police and firemen during the strike. It is a terrible insult to all Americans that these murderous terrorists could be given the same rights as American citizens. This is especially insulting to the heroes that risked their lives to go into those burning towers and to those that lost family members. The trials will only give the terrorists a world wide forum to spread their murderous evil and hate. Open trials will also expose many of our intelligence gathering methods and endanger CIA members and their families as well as the members of the jury. Almost certainly, the terrorist's lawyers will say that the evidence is not admissible due to the methods used to get information. They may also try to use the insanity plea. Holder i

True there would no tbe any 9/11 victims without Bill Clinton or the Dems. But your right that this is not about those past things. This is about left wing democrats waterboarding the victims of 9/11 and smiling while they do it.

We would have captured BinLaden back in the 90's but inaction of Clinton is the reason we did not catch him when we could. The man is safe within his zone by all those that hide him.
NYC Police can handle this event; but the ones paying for it will be the taxpayers of NYC and NYS

What is sad is that Bush's bogus Iraq war took away America's chance to capture BinLaden and bring justice and closure for the 9/11 victims. It is alarming though to imagine these trials in NYC.

These men need to be put on trial, but only in a Military Tribunal NOT Civilian Court. These are war crimes, not civil crimes.
