The 912 Project | Glenn Beck Reflects on the 1 Year Anniversary

Ordinary Americans Changing the Course of a Nation

Glenn Beck hosted his one year review of the 912 project. Regardless of your opinion of Glenn Beck, what the grassroots 921 project has accomplished is enviable. On the Glenn Beck show were key members of the 912 project featuring the project chair, Yvonne Donnelly, Editor at Large, Michael Opelka and National Co-Chair, Stephani Scruggs.

The significance of the 912 project name is based on the date one day after the 911 terrorist attack. That is the day that changed America. In fact, the 912 project name has significance in its title beyond the date. It represents 9 principals and 12 values that members should embrace. The 912 project is about ordinary Americans changing the course of a nation. Glenn Beck stated that technically, one has to only accept 7 of the 9. That one task would allow the members of the 912 project to restore honor to our nation according to Glenn Beck.

Glenn Beck recapped the one year milestones of the 912 project. Here are the Five Accomplishments for the 912 project anniversary.

1. 1500+ Meetup Groups
2. 200+ Facebook Groups
3. March 13, 2009 launch date
4. 3M+ visitors to 912 project website during launch weekend
5. Estimated 1M+ members

During the Glenn Beck show there was considerable time spent distinguishing the 912 project from the Tea Party movement. Simply stated, the 912 project is driven by personal growth and education whereas the Tea Party is based on issues and more politically motivated. Additionally, the 912 project by design does not have a centralized control whereas the Tea Party movement is organized with central control.

The impetus behind the 912 project was a caller to the Glenn Beck radio show on January 27, 2009. He was a self professed zombie. He was not active other than a few trips to the voting booth and listening silent to some talk radio. The caller had become disenfranchised with main stream media.

The TV audience from the Glenn Beck program was very articulate and informed. All of them were members of the 912 project. Some were also active with The Tea Party movement. Every one of them shared a common theme of using the book 5000 year leap as a catalyst for becoming reacquainted with our country's founding principals.

It is clear that Glenn Beck is proud of the accomplishments of the 912 project during the first year. It was also apparent that although he launched the initiative, he is very removed from the daily activities operations of the 912 project. To commemorate the launch of the 912 project, Glenn Beck had members send in pictures of themselves and he created a large pictorial mosaic with each 912 project member in a patriotic We The People mural. He commissioned a new painting of Samuel Adams (Faith), George Washington (Hope) and Ben Franklin (Charity).

The 912 project has provided momentum for another initiative led by Glenn Beck called the Restoring Honor tour.
