The ABC's of Spoken Word Artist: G.L. Morrison
The ABC's of Music- Playful Interviews with International Musicians and Bands
Oh yeah... journalistic distance. Ahem. (Take Two)
The ABC's of G.L. Morrison
A - Age(s): 41 (I think or maybe 42)
B - Band Members: Mostly me but I love to jam with others.
C - Contact us @ : glzenfish@yahoo.com, poetrymaven@gmail.com
D - Destiny: Great things. Fame. Fortune. Fun.
E - Essential(s): Dr. Pepper
F - Famous First(s): I can't remember my first publication or my first kiss or my first public reading... so I make sure to celebrate them all as if they are the most important! Being jaded is over-rated. Wonder-struck is much more entertaining.
G - Genre: Poetry
H - Hat Trick: Can write a poem in under 15 minutes (1) using all the words supplied to me by audience (2) in the form or theme requested (3) that makes you want to weep, orgasm or call your congressman --whichever is appropriate. That's my 3-in-1 trick. Now pass the hat.
I - Influences: Neruda, Donald Justice, Elizabeth Bishop
J - Just for ____ : Once
K - Keyboards: Very badly. I only play clarinet. I have to farm out all the musical parts.
L - Love ___ and Hate ___ : Good food and good conversation. Hate racism, litter, or neglect.
M - Mysticism, Mystique or Mistake: I read tarot cards professionally (long ago in a galaxy far away)
N - Name (story behind the band's name): It's my name. Although the number of applications and businesses and web sites who can wrap their minds/formatting around initials is aggravating.
O- Ordained to: Network. Maniacly.
P - Pop Icon or Pop Tart (we most want to be): When I grow up (which should be any day now) I want to be Stephen King or J.K. Rawling or Shakespeare. Just a household word, not too much to ask. (If I were a Pop Tart I'd be wild berry which is funny cuz I only eat the cinnamon and brown sugar.)
Q - Queer, Queer-friendly, Str8, Hetroflexible, Metrosexual: Dykely.
R - Reverbnation.com Fave (Other Than Yourself): Violet Femmes. Then Lesbianic.
S - Sound Like: Thunder (but sexier)
T - Twitter: http://twitter.com/glmorrison
U- Upcoming Performances/Events: Booking venues in Eugene, OR and Vancouver BC for the next few months. Dates still up in the air.
V - Vocalist(s): Moi
W - Wishlist: Someone to unpack my boxes, guitar lessons, stage my play series, finish my novel (s), set up a permanent writing school, a massage, a traveling companion with a comfortable hybrid van and more hours in the day. Oh and world peace. Did I forget world peace?
X - X-treme: Playfulness. In every way.
Y - Yesterday I/we: Watched a terrible horror movie and a wonderful musical dramedy (Were the World Mine).
Z - Zealot about: recycling, honesty, effective communication, family, friends and pets. ART & POETRY!
