The Accidental Party Planner

Heather Dekin
Struggling with the idea of party planning at its finest
Especially since there wasn't supposed to be one to begin with
Would rather stay at home with a gigantic bowl of popcorn instead
Watching back-to-back episodes of The Closer and Law & Order
Combing through personal address books the size of three ring binders
Finding out which friends won't assault or insult each other the least
Ended with a party filled with an unusual array of guests
Some Woodys, Alberts, Phils and a few Bradleys to make things interesting
There's also some College Sorority girlfriends who were added minutes ago
Unfortunately a few bad apples were accidentally added to the guest list
By the Facebook referral of a few text happy friends who didn't know
Soon the small gathering of 20, turns into a three ring circus of 50
A local band and two kegs have been added at the last possible moment
Trying to drink a lot of Chamomile Tea to loosen the internal and external knots
Starting with the one blocking the metaphorical and literal nasal passages
And some acupuncture needles to finish the rest of the process
Planning an extended 2 week vacation and hiring someone else to clean up
After the guest stampede comes and goes through the backyard jungle
Not looking forward to the next day's events
Focusing on the party once the preparation and everyone has been paid
Celebrating the good times and the laughter too
And no more stress for the rest of the year
Just what the Tea Doctor ordered.
