The Acid State of PH in the Body: New Research Uncovers The Truth

Patti Stafford
Juice diets may have been around awhile but they're still all the rage in some circles. Many people claim to feel better and lose weight at a rapid pace. How is this possible?

Juice diets help clean the toxins out of the body that build up from high fat and highly processed foods, but they've also been shown to restore the body's pH level to an alkaline state.

When the body is in an acidic state it stores fat and will even create new fat cells to store more fat. An acid state also hinders the thyroid and adrenal glands from producing metabolizing hormones that pumps up your metabolism to burn fat. Both of these conditions, fat storage and inactive or impaired thyroid, can wreak havoc on the body and put the pounds on. Not only is fat stored in the fat cells but the acid is also stored there to prevent it from doing damage to tissues and organs.

When the body is in an alkaline state it doesn't store fat as easily and will burn off extra fat stores as the body returns to a healthy state. When the body is in a healthy state it doesn't need to store excess acid or fat.

Changing your diet to at least 75% alkaline foods can help boost your metabolism so you shed excess pounds quickly. Some people have reported losing 10 pounds in one week. While fast weight loss is not suggested, the juice diet gives your body plenty of nutrition where other rapid weight loss plans do not.

Having a nutrient dense diet will also stave off hunger. Your body will be nutritiously satisfied causing blood sugar levels to normalize which will help control your appetite.

A nutrient dense diet will also give you more energy because your body will have the nutrients it needs and will flush toxins out of your body that make you feel sluggish.

A low acid diet may even prevent or help reduce osteoporosis too. Excess acid in the body causes the bones to lose their calcium leading to osteoporosis and other bone disorders according to new studies at Tufts University.

How can you change your diet from acidic to alkaline? It's simple, drink 2 bottles of a vegetable juice each day, like V8. Enjoy one for breakfast and one before dinner each evening.

Add plenty of water to your diet and cut out processed foods and sugar. A diet high in meat, dairy and wheat products also leads to an acid state so those foods should be cut down as much as possible. Opt for tuna, chicken and more salads. This sounds like a typical diet but adding vegetable juice to the mix will help you get the nutrients you need, especially if you aren't a big fan of vegetables.

Snacks should include plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts.

Changing a lifestyle of eating habits isn't always easy, but think of the benefits and how much better you'll feel.
