The AC-Twitter Challenge

Twitter is AC Writers Avenue to Success

Rose Richmond
When Twitter first came on board the Internet, it was the beginning of a craze that hasn't stopped yet. People have used it for various applications, including posting on the elections and violence in Iraq. The usefulness of Twitter has connected people, that may have otherwise, never made contact with each other. It has put celebrities, government officials such as John McCain, and the common man on the same page for a brief period. We have learned information about others, we normally would not be able to get through other resources. Twitter is a place for everybody to totally be themselves or not, if they choose that.

I connected with Twitter from the beginning. I instantly recognized the potential to obtain readers through Twitter. I signed up during the beginning of the elections for President, last year. I joined to be like everyone else. I wanted to be in the middle of the fray of comments and discussions. The excitement of being in a conversation with hundreds of other people at the same time, during such a big event, was addicting. I started my Twitter page by posting a few articles and filling in my profile. I joined other Twitter friends and spent hours sitting at the computer, communicating with people I had never met.

After a couple of weeks, I was amazed at the number of people who joined my Twitter page. Regular people, movie stars, news stations, radio stations, huge organizations and others were joining my page in droves. Within the first two weeks, I had over 200 followers. As of today, I have nearly 1500.

For me, using Twitter has become the most important tool in my AC toolbox. It has given me more exposure than I could have gotten anywhere else. From the first article I posted on Twitter last year, I gained more reads in a short time, than I had gotten in total, to that point. I picked up some subscribers for AC and many, many fans that just read things I post on Twitter.

I use Twitter every single day. Whether I write something new or I am re-posting an article relevant to current events or seasons, I get lots of page views. Twitter is a valuable tool for writers at AC or other sites. If you keep it updated and you follow others, you can keep a variety of readers. This in turn, will not only add fans to your work, it will make you more money. You can post articles from several years back that have relevance to today's world and get great comments and reads from it, such as my article called, "How To Build A Flagstone Patio On A Budget". This was written over a year ago. I still get many page views on it, because of Twitter.

With all of the many ways open for advertising your work, Twitter could be one of those places that is just on the list. However, of all of the tools available for AC content producers, Twitter is probably the one you want to use more than the rest. It is real time, free advertising and is probably the "best" possible avenue for getting your work out there.

As a result of taking the AC, Twitter Challenge and noting the results, I would say, Twitter and AC is a marriage made in heaven for content producers. The benefits are undeniable. I have increased my page views and reader loyalty by 150%. I have gained exposure that I never would have, otherwise. If you haven't signed up for Twitter, you could be losing money. If you have, but haven't spent much time on it, you are definitely losing money.

Twitter is a great place. Take the AC Twitter Challenge and check it out. You will be glad you did. When you join Twitter, be sure to follow me at: http://twitter.com/RoseRichmond.

Interesting article and very convincing. AC might be the only reason I succumb to the twitter madness.

Great article. I try to tweet once a week. Tweet Deck makes it so much easier though. I am now following you.

You're more 'with it' than I am, Rose. I have a twitter account but have been mostly neglecting it. Gotta shape up and start tweeting! Thanks a bunch! :o)

I have 2 Twitter accounts- but I find the site a bit too Spartan for my tastes.
