The Ad for the DRX9000C- Neck Pain Relief

For Low Back and Neck Pain, Choose the DRX9000C

I don't know a lot of people who, at some point in their life, have gone without back trouble. It's a condition that plagues a good percentage of our society. This ad that I discovered in the Wilmington Star claims to fix such problems.
According to the ad, the DRX9000C is a decompression system that treats pain associated with herniated discs, bulging discs, and also degenerative disc disease. Another appealing aspect is that it is non-surgical, and that it includes a free consultation, exam, and x-rays. "Absolutely no obligation" always sounds good, right?
This ad would appeal to basically anyone who has any trouble whatsoever with pain in the lower back or neck. And with it screaming the word "free," any and everyone would be willing to give it a try, since they feel as though they have nothing to lose.
Being the skeptical consumer that I am, I naturally sought to investigate such a claim. Of course, as I suspected, my September 2007 issue of Skeptical Inquirer proved my theory that it was essentially all just a hoax. However, I'm sure that a lot of other innocent "victims" out there see the free ad, go in for the consultation, and from there on out are paying outrageous bills for problems that this alleged "decompression system" finds, while many well-known chiropractors suggest otherwise. Though their tactics were well implemented, it was one ad that this consumer-savvy writer refuses to fall for.
