The Adam Lambert Show Almost Gets Cancelled

April 29th American Idol Elimination Show Shocks Viewers

Gerald McConway
The three young singers stood on stage and you could see the smug look on Adam's face that there was no way that he was going to get knocked off the show. Then surprise, Kris went over to the safe spot and it was down to two. Adam still had that cocky look on his face until the commercial break and then something changed. It was as though reality actually started to sink in and you saw just a hint of panic in his face as Seacrest was about to reveal who was getting sent home.

Yeah, we all know Matt Giraud ended up getting kicked off, but Adam Lambert and the Adam Lambert nation got a huge wakeup call on Wednesday Night as Adam was in the bottom 2. Yeah, all kinds of hate mail is going to be flying on this one and the comments are going to be a blast to read, but this was the best thing that ever could have happened to American Idol.

Last week I wrote that I did not think Adam was as talented vocally as another member of the cast. I have never had more comments or attacks to an article. I also mentioned that the more contestants that got voted off, the more trouble Adam was going to be in as the rest of the fans were sick and tired of this being called the Adam Lambert show.

The scary thing for Adam is that Allison and Danny were the two highest vote getters. If you are to believe the headlines of recent shows, these were supposed to be the next two out. If they are both getting that kind of support, the next few weeks are going to be very difficult for Adam to get through.

All of this means that we are in for one hell of a ride over the final weeks of American Idol. Adam has never been faced with elimination and it will be fun to watch and see how he responds to a taste of adversity. He does have a huge advantage in the upcoming week though as Rock and Roll is the theme and he, more than any of the other contestants, shines in this genre.

I think we can expect another huge performance from Adam with lots of stage movement and more than his fair share of screaming at the top of his lungs. Oh, I'm sorry, 'belting 'out of notes. Allison should also do well in that this is absolutely her kind of music. The question will be how Kris and Danny do here. Danny continues to pick up steam, but Kris has stumbled a few times over the last few weeks and being down in the bottom three could not have helped his confidence. Rock is also not something that has been a strong point of his and he will probably go ballad and try to sneak by.

I will go out on a limb here and say that the bottom two next week will be Danny and Kris. The voting will be very close, but Kris takes the hit to his confidence and gets dropped out of the competition. It will be a shame, but at this point, they are all incredible. It should be an interesting week of build up and the energy level on the next show should be surreal.

I find it highly amusing that you make these comments and accusations without taking the time to read through the whole article and my previous articles. If you had, you would notice that the bulk of the time, the articles are very positive towards Adam. The fact of the matter is that he was up for elimination and his backers got a wake up call. It is absolutely amazing the reaction some of you have, but as I have said many times, we are all entitled to our own opinion. I would just be curious as to what your opinion will be if he has a great performance this week and I write that he brought down the house again.

  • OH HELL NO YOU DIDN'T DISS ADAM YOU HOMOPHOBE..5/3/2009

Adam is FAR from Cocky, or Arrogant. In fact, he's been dubbed by all the other Contestants, Judges, Seacrest and The Band, as one of the nicest guys they have ever met. Kris Allen said Adam is the Go To Guy of the house for comfort and everyone else agreed, including Danny Gokey, who said Adam is one of the best people he has ever met.

His look of "SO CALLED SMUG" on his face, might have been just terror, cause he didn't want to go home, because he wants to win. OR MAYBE he felt at that moment what the rest of America was thinking, that he was standing there for ratings and maybe that bothered him.

Adam is sensational. GET OVER IT! Quit Hating, you bigot. Only BIGOT's and HOMOPHOBES seem to be the ones hating on Adam.

EXCUSE ME!!! Are you lost? Out of your mind? Maybe you can fool some people sometimes with your garbage. Know if you fail to understand, that Adam's appeal is universal. His fans are worldwide. . . . .
This is a good thing that this happened at this stage for all Adam's fans who just sat there mesmerized by him and didn't vote thinking he is safe and secure. I take this as BLESSING IN DISGUISE!!! . . . . . Because of my shock, I searched and learned that Danny has the Christian block with call centers voting for the whole 2 hours. They're just given the GO signal to start voting even without watching the show. No wonder Danny has that paste-on clown smile on his face all through this season because he is sure to get into the finals or even winning AI if Adam's fans are not united and just plain complacent. . . . . Kris' fans also meet every Tuesday night in groups doing the same thing. I hope Adam's fans will be as united as these fans or we might regret it. . . . . Also found out

continuation of what was omitted in my previous post.
A reader posted this:"I researched tenor singing high C, E, and F's, the Puritani "high F" from credeasi misera and Pavarotti's Legendary High C 's in La Fille du regiment. WOW! Adam was reaching those same notes only a few talented and practiced tenors can achieve!"
With all Adam's overwhelming talent, gorgeous looks, magnetism and sex appeal, he crowns it with HUMILITY. He is well mannered and has shown right breeding which you, Gerald McConway is wanting.

Gerald McConway, you are BLOODY RUBBISH!!! . . . . . You have NO WISDOM because your reading of Adam is soo WRONG!!! . . . . . You're IGNORANT, have inferior taste and know nothing about music nor have a right to be a journalist. . . . . EDUCATE yourself!!! . . . . . Read Ann Powers of Los Angeles Times' April 27 scholarly article "ADAM LAMBERT, THE SINGER" where you will understand exactly what Adam's astounding vocal chords' ability is which is technically referred to as PASSAGGIO. . . . . You are NOT blessed with good judgement why you cannot and don't appreciate what talent is when confronted with it. But to those who have or those who are not biased or bigoted can appreciate and acknowledge and recognize a gifted person like Adam is. . . . .A reader posted this:"I researched tenor singing high C, E, and F's, the Puritani "high F" from credeasi misera and Pavarotti's Legendary High C 's in La Fille du regiment. • What?5/2/2009

I've never seen him act smug. Adam is the most polite contestant I've ever seen on Idol. He is also the most talented. I really don't see why people like you seem to think you have to bash him. He has a wonderful singing voice. I love them notes he hits when singing. It is not screaming. I have never heard him scream anything. I love his performances. I love the theatrics that he adds to them. I would love to see him in concert. He is the only one I would pay to see. From what I've seen his parents have done a very good job of raising him. I think he makes an excellent role model.

I don't think he was smug. What an interesting opinion you have, Mr. McConway.
