The Addict Poem

C. Moss
Pills, pills, and more pills
All different kinds begging to be thrilled
A fleeting thought turns into the truth
A product of an ill spent youth
So many reasons, but mostly to feel
Tried holding out for a better deal
A yellow one that speaks of true love
The stuff that miracles are made of
Sit back and down all that you've known
Today I can't wait to get you alone
This blue one tells me I'm in for a ride
First, See which way is up then decide
Thoughtless, flawless, solace and repeat
Passionate suicidal love in a back seat
A purple pill, next to nothing is great
We get old too soon and wise too late
A mind was a terrible thing to waste
In comes the new trend, an elegant taste
I want to feel raw energy with meaningful undertones
A recipe for disaster written in stone
I'll take them all to find the one that suits me best
I'll take what I need, you can keep the rest
Now I move on to a new drink of choice
To wash the pills down, I say, of course I'll be careful
I learned from the best; my inner voice
An event so full of character and suspense
Wondering why my intentions got a hold of me
A clear liquid of dreams and beginnings
Each new crystal clear sparkling drink I intake
Slowly I forget yesterday, somewhere in time
Living in the past costs you your future
Dim hazy eyes that once lit up with a spark
