The Advantage of Wooden Models Over Plastic, Resin and Die Cast Metal

Military and commercial models are made of various materials and you can easily walk into hobby shop and find these either as kits or as prebuilt models.

Most of the kits you see are made of plastic while prebuilt ones are available in die cast metal, plastic and resin. Since these are built in large quantities thanks to machines that are available, you can never go wrong when this goes into production.

But let's say you are not happy with the designs at the store. Can you make a customized version? The answer is no because almost all companies require you to order a certain number and this is not practical if you are only going to order this for yourself.

Does this mean it can't be done? No because there is another way and that is by going to a manufacturer or a company that produces these models from wood. This is because no mold is produced and they can easily honor your request by analyzing some pictures.

One company that I have found online that can do that is www.woodenscalemodels.com. They have various models of planes and helicopters to choose from so you are sure to find the model you want.

If by chance you don't find what you are looking for there, you can shoot them an email and ask if it can be done. Most of the time, such a request is possible as long as they you tell them the name of the aircraft or helicopter, the scale that you want and some pictures which will serve as their guide during the production process.

Right now, most of their models are made from Mahogany which is kiln dried so it will be able to withstand the elements.

When you decide to make an order, take note that it maybe a month before you get the item. This is because each model is done by hand and it takes skill to turn a piece of wood into a masterpiece. Also, an order is only processed after an order has been made. Once the model is finished, this is then sent to the client.

So, if you want your very own model with the markings of your choosing, you should get in touch with someone from www.woodenscalemodels.com. The people there are easy to talk to and they can make almost any plane or helicopter and in just about any scale.
