Parent involvement in schools usually varies depending on the parent, and the majority of public schools don't have many parents right involved as often. In many private schools they require or offer a discount to those parents who will come in a few hours a month to do some volunteer work, whether it be driving a bus on a class field trip, or being a teacher's aid in your child's classroom for a day.
Students who attend private school are proven to have fewer disciplinary problems, a much lower dropout rate, experience fewer drug related problems as well as reported to be less violent. The higher scores on standardized tests and college exams also speak for themselves, with more students that attend a private school actually going on to college, it seems to be the best choice these days. With the price of private school being an issue for some, you may be able to lower the tuition with different ways such as a grant for those who qualify, as well as some schools offering a discount for those parents who are more actively involved in their child's school.
Having a say in how things are done in the school, and having a voice when it comes to decisions because you do pay for tuition is a nice touch when it comes to your child's education. The well maintained and clean school grounds, new and well maintained books and one on one care for your child is all worth the penny.
