Where Can I Find Euri's blog? http://theadventuresofeurithedog.blogspot.com/
Euri has led an interesting life and ever since we adopted him last year, he's continued to have adventures. His story was published in the magazine Urban Paws, but here's a recap in case you missed it. Euri is an English cocker Spaniel who was born in the Czech Republic. Two breeders in America decided to co-own and import Euri so he could be a show dog. Sounds glamorous, right? Think again. Euri was flown to the US at the tender age of four months. He was driven from Newark, New Jersey down to Louisiana where the first breeder lived. That breeder took one look at Euri and knew he was oversized because Euri was almost as big as the breeder's adult dogs, yet Euri was only a puppy.
Sadly that breeder wasn't very nice to Euri and kept him in a kennel run for six months. Euri didn't receive any love and had his nails cut back to the quick so it was painful; hence the reason Euri has "issues" with his paws being touched today. The first breeder wanted to get rid of Euri as quickly as possible but the co-owner had a house full of dogs and no room for Euri, so he had to wait. Finally Euri was sent up to Michigan so he could join yet another household and be the odd one out. It was not easy trying to join an already established pack especially when the other dogs were allowed to sleep on the bed and go on the furniture; poor Euri had to be in a crate because there were too many dogs.
The co-owner tried to show Euri in dog shows because after all, he is a beautiful dog. Euri managed to place but he never won. It became obvious that he was indeed too big for the breed standard so the breeder thought she'd use Euri to mate and produce gorgeous puppies. Only problem was...Euri wasn't very attracted to other dogs. He's more of a human than a dog. So Euri was pretty much deemed useless and placed for adoption - at the same time that I filled out the English Cocker Spaniel Rescue adoption form. A month later, we adopted Euri and he was shipped from Michigan to Houston, Texas. He's been treated like a king ever since, but being a pet was foreign to Euri. He had never even worn a collar before but since he was a smart dog, he learned lots of tricks and commands in no time. We were told that Euri is not a lap dog but that just goes to show that they never bothered to get to know or love Euri because he is the epitome of a lap dog. He loves to snuggle on the couch and bed with us, and can't get enough belly rubs.
Euri is very spoiled and is part of the pack now - where he belongs - but that doesn't stop him from getting into mischief - and lots of it. So Euri's blog is about his adventures, and occasionally he'll post some of mommy's dog articles to help other dogs. Euri is even allowing animal guest bloggers so be sure to visit Euri's blog entitled The Adventures of Euri, the Dog; and feel free to leave a comment and subscribe to his blog - and don't forget to spread the word. If you have a blog, Euri will be sure to visit yours as well. He just loves meeting new people.

Post a CommentIt's a great blog and my Jack enjoys reading each up date. He can't always comment because he's busy sniffing the keyboard to see if mom dropped any crumbs on it.
Wonderful :)
Touching story and great info - actually have another internet friend, Gissi, a fisty little pouch who has his own blog and gets on his Mum's computer without her knowing from time to time to send messages - great fun :)
