The After St. Valentine's Day Blues

Where did all the hearts and flowers go
That fell freely from the sky so blue
Only just a few days ago? The bows
and chocolates, hearts and love brews,
Your love bandit's touch, your stolen kisses, that I love so!
Now we are apart, no more game of hearts,
And the thought just makes my tears flow!
Remember the sweetheart's bench that my dad built
Hoping his tomboy daughter would find a bow to sit upon it?
Instead, we made it into an obstacle course, to step over with stilts.
Oh, poor dad, you could just see him wilt!
If we looked back over the years
Would we see a blizzard of hearts and flowers,
Mixed with just a few sighs and tears?
MUST we wait another whole year
Before we give candy and hugs and bowers
Of flowers, love notes and candy hearts, my dear?
Remember your first valentine for me, candy in a cigar box, rubber banded?
Sweetheart, I know where an old lover's bench still stands
Under the Weeping Willow tree, whose trunk our initials brand.
Tsk, tsk! I don't know if the sunset will last 'till then, you understand...

Don't take any cares about the captions as the photos are wonderful. And so is your lovely poem that reminds me of my past, the handmade cards by my spouse, the days that went by far too quickly. But I have the beautiful memories, so the days of hearts, flowers and love are really still mine to savor. Many thanks. rcj
