Unlike other continents of the world like Europe, Asia, South America and others, the state of democracy in Africa, leaves much to be desired. Today, democracy in Africa is characterized by hatred, greed, corruption, thuggery, campaign of calumny, bribery, arson, assassination, stealing of ballot papers and boxes, multiple registration of voters, falsification of election results, abuse of rule of law, kidnapping of political opponent(s), lies, deceit, fake promises, imposition of unpopular candidate(s), god fatherism, sentiments, falsification of age, violation of constitution, overnight transformation of soldier to politician, transfer of power to family member, ritual killings and abuse of human rights.
With these, there is no doubt that democracy is facing agonies in Africa. It is therefore high time that true democracy be allowed to thrive in Africa so that the citizens can enjoy its dividends and the political, economic, social, cultural and technological development can be achieved in the continent.
