The Aids Epidemic (How it Happened)

We hear a lot about AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) and the devastation it's causing all over the world. How could such a thing happen? It was easy, no effort at all. Neglect, apathy and people enthusiastically spreading it. That's all it took.

Step One

When AIDS was first discovered, it was mainly a disease of behavior. A fatal illness that was transmitted among gay men didn't get much publicity. Granted, they could have shut down the "bath houses" or tried using condoms, but they didn't. The ones who carried and caught the disease weren't as interested in surviving as they were in the thrill of the moment. Their moments were numbered.

Step Two

Since it was spread by behavior only (in the beginning) nobody cared. If a bunch of gay men died, what was the societal loss, anyway? Gays don't usually reproduce and most people assumed that all the gays lived in San Francisco, keeping the disease confined. The wisdom of the day was that it was a small, local problem caused by behavior, so don't worry about it.

Step Three

Allow it to travel. Gay men have sex with bi-sexual men who have sex with women. Soon it goes from a small community to widespread contamination. The virus went from a few unknown gay men to celebrities, like Rock Hudson (who knew?) and he came forward about his illness in the hope of saving others. Some celebrities weren't so lucky as to be responsible for catching AIDS. Amanda Blake (Miss Kitty from "Gunsmoke" was one of them). Her husband had his lovers (male) who gave it to him, and he brought it home to her. The beautiful actress died because her husband infected her. It was transmitted like a wild fire and soon encompassed the whole world.

Step Four

Every government, be really slow to react when your population starts getting sick. Don't waste your time handing out condoms or giving lectures about AIDS. Let people donate blood without checking it for the virus. My cousin, Margie, had a contaminated transfusion in the late seventies. She (devoted wife and mother) died of AIDS in 1990. Do the good liberal thing and let everyone do "what feels good", don't expect celibacy or fidelity, or even precautions. And certainly don't teach it in your schools. Teach the Planned Parenthood gospel of birth control pills, IUD's and abortion. Leave AIDS and other STD's out. Fear of the disease might cause a rash of celibacy and put Planned Parenthood out of business.

Step Five

When indiscriminate sex in third world countries goes rampant and babies are born, by the thousands, with the AIDS virus, look the other way. After all, what can they do for you? They're infants, born into poverty (those that Planned Parenthood didn't kill, that is). They won't live to grow up and cast a vote, so who cares, right? Make plenty of stumbling blocks for anyone who wants to help, too. Crooked governments, the UN under Kofi Anan, even the World Health Organization, failed to act decisively and quickly when the need arose. Good way to spread AIDS. Ignore it.

Step Six

Have plenty of liberal celebrities lined up to do promotional commercials. The more liberal, the better. Other liberals who consider the chosen celebrities almost godlike will do nothing but feel like helping. They won't accomplish anything. Their wish to help should be enough to increase their fame and prestige. Don't waste your time asking conservatives to speak out and offer their assistance. Liberals won't listen to conservatives anyway, right? And only liberals "care."

Step Seven

Make sure that Planned Parenthood stays on track and offers birth control (which doesn't protect against AIDS) and abortion on demand for everyone. Be sure they don't have classes on how to prevent contagious diseases. Don't let them talk about celibacy. After all, everyone is going to sleep around and they don't want to stop it (or even slow it down.) Their money comes from birth control and abortion, not the prevention of STD's.

Now you know how to make a disease into a world wide disaster. Millions of babies are born with AIDS every year and will not live to grow up. Women who think they're safe because Planned Parenthood gave them birth control and offered free abortions, die from AIDS, too, unaware that they caused their own deaths with the help of Planned Parenthood. The lack of morality around the world, excusing all behaviors, and forgetting to take care of the future are the causes of AIDS. Sounds like something from the 60's, doesn't it? Free love, free drugs, free sex, no responsibilities. That's how you spread a killer disease like AIDS. Being accountable for everything you do and paying attention to the details (including celibacy instead of Planned Parenthood's ideas) can stop a deadly disease before it becomes a world wide epidemic.
