She then ended the article by saying that she once drove past her child's daycare center and forgot to take him because he was so quiet, but she could never forget that her son was in the car when she's leaving it! If you can forget that your child is in the car while you're driving, you most definitely can forget them when you leave you car!
What is going on with these parents? On the Fox News website, they talk about how states are cracking down on people who do this. Every year, thirty to 40 mindless parents leave their kids to die in cars each year, and the number is rising. I am really disgusted at the fact, that people have their minds on their meetings, dinners, health club-whatever and forget about what's important-their children.
According to the study by Associated press, mothers are more than likely to leave their kids unattended than fathers, and mothers are given worse punishment than the fathers. It pains me to see this happening, when there are couples who are heartbroken over not being able to have any children, and the one's that don't deserve it let them die. I don't agree with anyone getting by saying their child's death was an 'accident' and they don't get prosecuted for it! As of now 12 states have children in cars laws. This is America, 12 out of 50 states care about children. Children are our future, we need to start caring about them!
These parents are selfish. Once a child is born 'you' and what you want is out of the window. It is them-them-them until they get old enough to go to school. Until they stop putting their jobs, social clubs and everything else under the sun above their own flesh and blood, this is something that is going to keep continuing to rise.
Kids and Cars is an organization to help people make sure that children do not die in non-traffic or vehicle accidents. As of September this year, there were 516 incidents, 653 children were involved, and 170 fatalities. Right now, they are trying to get a bill passed that would make sure all motor vehicles would have: A wide range view rear view vision, in order not to back over children; a reverse feature on power windows so they will reverse if they hit something and a child cannot be strangled if looking out; an interlock on the brake shift, so a car will not go into drive. That will only work if someone doesn't have their foot on the brake.
