The Alphabet According to JerseyNana "D"

My Weekly Article for Youngsters, In-Betweeners and Seniors

Diane Zoller-Ciatto
Well everyone, we made it to "D" and we are still going strong. Don't forget to let me know if there is an upcoming event you would like me to mention as we do not want anyone to be left out. I will add at the bottom of the newsletter any upcoming birthdays, anniversaries and so on, so if you would like a shout out, please let me know!

Youngsters: Your first word this week is DREAMS. I am going to give you a challenge to keep a pad and pencil by your bed. When you awaken and remember what you dreamed about; write it down. If you wait too long, your dream will disappear from your subconscious mind and you will forget about it. You may think it is silly or your DREAMS do not matter, but many fun things can go on in our DREAMS. Hope all your DREAMS are sweet ones.

The other word for you Youngsters is DICTIONARY. I just love the DICTIONARY. When Nana was a youngster, there was no such thing as the internet, but we had a DICTIONARY that was extremely large. When I had nothing to read, I took out that big fat DICTIONARY and picked a letter and proceeded to learn new words. You will be amazed what you can learn just by reading the DICTIONARY.

In-Betweeners: Your first word is DEBT. Tis the season to spend money, sometimes without a conscience. We see something and we just have to buy it. Unfortunately those credit card bills come in quickly, sometimes even before the holiday has arrived. So let JerseyNana give you some advice from firsthand experience: stop spending money without first thinking it over. If you have a list of people you have to buy gifts for; stick to the list. When January comes, you will be able to sleep at night because you did not spend over your means.

Your second word is DRIVING. Now not all of you live where the weather changes dramatically, but here in New Jersey it can go from rain to snow in a heartbeat. DRIVING in New Jersey is always a challenge and I tend to have a lead foot myself. Please be extra careful, kids will be home from school soon and with daylight savings time, it gets dark early. So just be careful when DRIVING.

Seniors: For us seniors, the first word is DRUGS. I take eighteen pills and two injections a day. Several of these look similar, so I spend one day a week, setting them up for myself. I make sure to renew my meds over the web and they arrive by mail. I see my doctor about three times a month and he keeps a very caring eye on me. Seniors, please make sure you take your meds as the doctor has prescribed and only as prescribed. My late mother was a nurse and "thought she knew everything" so she took her meds when and if she felt like it. Now I am no doctor, but maybe, just maybe if she had done as she should have; she would still be with us. So for Nana, please be careful with those meds!

The other word is DINER. Poppy and I enjoy eating out a few times a month. We are lucky to live in New Jersey which is the DINER capital of the world. We have a favorite DINER and a favorite waitress who takes good care of us. The DINER has specials for $9.99 and $10.99 that include, soup, salad, entree and dessert. The food is extremely good and everyone knows us by name. So go out to eat, but order something that you would not make or have at home. This way it is a treat and it will make you feel special.

So that just about wraps it up for this week. I can't wait to hear from you with shout outs and suggestions! Have a great week! Love ya! Nana

Copy-and-paste comments are an abomination, but I am desperately behind and I want to give you the PV, so please accept this placeholder with my apologies. At least it's not a smiley!

I never thought I'd have a pill box, but without it, I can't remember when I took my meds last! I don't qualify as a senior but that one applies to me now. lol
