The Amateur

Tay
He smiled,

Perceived attraction from the beginning

A current relationship forever depending

I smiled,

A conversation from where I had learned

That a bridge crossed would never be burned

We involved,

A temporary relief from indecent effects

A lifetime of memories, forgives, and forgets

He said,

Alone I can't put out are you in

Without and alone I was considered a friend

We departed,

Then reconciled only to be departed and reconciled again

A lust growing to admiration by love or a flesh relating sin

I tried,

To accept the attention I was missing

Indulged by the passion of kissing

Turning set ways into mistakes

Dam, how much can one person take

I compromised,

And forgot about the element of surprise

The distant look that was in his eyes

The smell of smoke I began to despise

The proletarian togetherness that held hurtful cries

I gave up,

On a love that just couldn't grow

Love from a sin that must be let go

Love that not mistakenly had a reason to be shared

But if all is lost all is gone

I cared.
