The Amazing Health Benefits of Pomegranate Juice

Stacy J. Day
With the history of side-effects and lack of response related to many prescription medications, many people have decided to opt for natural methods of healing their bodies and treating certain ailments. People have used herbs for centuries in order to obtain relief from pain and a myriad of other symptoms related to various illnesses. One super food that has gained recent popularity because of its amazing ability to heal numerous ailments is pomegranate juice. Despite the fact that it's only just recently gained popularity over the past few years, pomegranate was discovered centuries ago.

One major reason for pomegranate's recent increase in popularity is because of its significant antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help to fight off free radicals, freeing the body of disease and decelerating the aging process, which is desired by many individuals. The antioxidant properties in pomegranate juice far surpass those in other "super drinks" including green tea. Another amazing benefit of pomegranate juice is the ability to decrease blood pressure levels. Sometimes high blood pressure can be difficult to treat, but the addition of a daily glass of pomegranate juice in conjunction with medications, diet and exercise may just be the thing that someone needs to get their blood pressure lowered.

Pomegranate juice is also excellent for lowering cholesterol levels in those with elevated levels. A study was conducted by researchers in Israel in 2004 regarding pomegranate juice and its ability to improve health. Results proved that people who drank one concentrated glass of the super juice on a daily basis for one year had a reduction in not only their blood pressure, but their LDL, or bad cholesterol levels, as well.

Pomegranate juice has also been shown to assist with weight loss, fatigue, and even decrease pain in some individuals. It can be used to assist with the growth and vitality of nails and hair as well as increase heart flow, therefore warding off certain heart conditions before they even begin.

Furthermore, there have even been claims of cancer cells being destroyed by regular consumption of pomegranate juice. Of course pomegranate juice hasn't been approved by the Food & Drug Administration as a treatment for cancer or any other condition, but it certainly can't hurt to include pomegranate juice as part of your treatment protocol to help encourage more rapid and complete healing of cancer and also to help accelerate healing following various surgeries.

In order to reap the amazing benefits of pomegranate juice, check your local fine grocery stores, health food stores, and even amazon.com for a wide variety of choices.
