The Amazing Race 17, Episode 2 Saw Brooke & Claire Finish First in Accra, Ghana; Andie & Jenna Were Eliminated

The Amazing Race 17, Episode 2 aired on CBS Sunday night, taking mainly in place at Accra, Ghana, with Brook & Claire finishing first while Andie & Jenna were eliminated. Shallow jock Chad continued to show why he's so full of himself on this show. Episode 2 of The Amazing Race 17 featured the contestants having to do some real bargaining with the locals. This program continues to keep up its fast, unrelenting pace.

The Amazing Race 17, Episode 2 Sees Brook & Claire Take and Keep the Lead in Accra, Ghana

The ten remaining teams were made up of the following: Andie & Jenna (mother/biological daughter); Brook & Claire (Home Shopping Network co-hosts); Chad & Stephanie ("entitled" football jock and his arm candy); Connor & Jonathan (two singing best friends); Gary & Mallory (father with a Kentucky beauty queen daughter); Jill & Thomas (couple); Katie & Rachel (beach volleyball partners); Michael & Kevin (father/son); Nat & Kat (best friends and doctors); Nick & Vicki (walking tattoo advertisement couple).

From the first Pit Stop of The Amazing Race 17 at Eastnor Castle, Jill & Thomas and the other teams headed to Accra, Ghana in Episode 2, to find a memorial park. When in Ghana, they all rushed for a taxi. Many teams were harassed by panhandlers en route. All the teams dealt with zany traffic in the city.

The first to the monument was Brook & Claire, who had to rush to Makola Market for the Road Block: which involved selling about $10 US worth of sunglasses, competing with many other vendors and dealing with a poor populace. Brook & Claire were the first to sell their quota, and headed to a motor parts store. Michael & Kevin were the second to complete the task. Nat & Kat struggled the most with the hard bargaining locals, and were last to meet the quota on The Amazing Race 17, Episode 2. The shallow jock Chad thought his perceived good looks would be the key to selling the wares.

Andie & Jenna Were Eliminated on Episode 2 of The Amazing Race 17

The next task at the parts store was a Detour: either install a TV antenna for a home or transport a uniquely-created coffin across town. Most teams chose to make the antenna, and the first team to install it successfully was Brook & Claire. Katie & Rachel chose to transport a coffin across town amidst dangerous traffic, and were the first to complete that Detour. Nat & Kat almost wiped out with their coffin. But Andie & Jenna struggled throughout the race, and were the last to complete the Detour and would see elimination for their efforts, barely losing to Gary & Mallory.

Brooke & Claire headed to a large city market for their next task on Episode 2 of The Amazing Race 17, and had to scramble to find the Pit Stop, but finished first, winning a trip to Hawaii. Katie & Rachel finished second, Michael & Kevin finished third, followed by shallow jock Chad & Stephanie; Jill & Thomas; Connor & Jonathan; Nat & Kat; Nick & Vicki; Gary & Mallory; Andie & Jenna, who still admitting bonding more as birth mother and daughter.
