The Amazing Race teams left Patagonia for Germany. The cowboys left first and were joined by the detectives who were able to make it onto the first flight. After the plans arrived, teams took trains to Hamburg where they had to take a 150-foot leap of faith.
Teams had to work together in their next task, bungee-jumping 150-feet into the Hamburg Harbor. The detectives and cowboys worked together, showing that a real cowboy's hat never comes off.
Joe and Heidi liked Steve and Allie because they came from good families. Dan and Jordan found the lesbian aunts they never had in Carol and Brandy. Meanwhile Jordan and Jeff worked with Brent and Caitie.
Teams made their way to the Statue of Kaiser Wilhelm where they were given a choice of soccer or sauerkraut. The detectives wisely chose sauerkraut and were easily able to polish off their portions before the German polka concluded.
Steve and Allie, Joe and Heidi, and the Cowboys chose soccer. I would have chosen sauerkraut, still Jet and Cord did quite well considering that it was their first time on a soccer field. I have a feeling the Cowboys chose soccer just for the experience.
Jordan and Jeff nearly lost the Amazing Race when their cab driver typed the wrong address into his GPS, leaving them stranded miles away from either the soccer or sauerkraut.
The next roadblock involved going to the Haifisch Bar and chugging bootlegs of beer. Steve finished his beer easily as did Carol and Brandy and Joe and Heidi. The cowboys struggled with the beer, which was surprising considering how easily they had accomplished more difficult tasks throughout their journey.
Amazing Race Teams made their way to the Red Light district to the club Indra, where the Beatles had performed. Quote of the episode goes to Jet who exclaimed, "Cord, we're no longer in the BIble Belt!"
The detectives arrived first and won a $5,000 gift card from Discover. Steve and Allie were next, followed by Joe and Heidi. Jet and Cord (who started this leg in first) lost some time with the beer and were fourth. Carol and Brandy were fifth. Dan and Jordan were sixth.
The race for last place was tight as both Jordan and Jeff and Brent and Caitie has struggled. Caitie struggled with knee cramping during soccer. Jordan and Jeff couldn't stomach sauerkraut while Brent threw up from the beer.
Brent and Caitie were seventh, while Jordan and Jeff, unable to make up time from the taxi fiasco were last. Fortunately for them, this was a non-elimination leg of The Amazing Race. Still, I do think their days on the show are numbered, as their not as strong as the cowboys, the detectives, Steve and Allie, or even Joe and Heidi.
Brent and Caitie were a bit of a disappointment this week. During the first week, they came across as legitimate threats in the competition, showing that they were more than just pretty faces. For now, I'm rooting for the Cowboys.
