The Amazing Race Reveals Joan of Arc to Be a Girl

On last night's episode, the Amazing Race contestants built champagne towers and searched for grapes. Detectives Louie and Michael again solidified themselves as front-runners while Team Stupids Brent & Caitie and Jeff & Jordan duked it out for second-last place.

Amazing Race teams were required to find the Statue of Joan of Arc for their next clue. They then made their way to Epernay where they rappelled down to looked for marked champagne bottles. Brandy, as usual, did the rappelling challenge (as Carol seems to be the weaker link of the two).

The next clue took the teams to Taittinger La Marquetterie, a chateau. Unfortunately, several teams were misdirected when they ended up in Tattinger company headquarters in Reims. Louie and Michael lucked out by finding a couple in a Porsche who was willing to lead them to the chateau.

Teams were then given a choice of Tower or Terra (I would have chosen terra). I was surprised to see Dan and Jordan successfully complete the tower task, as they had precariously stacked three single glasses atop each other before pouring the massive bottle of champagne. They probably shouldn't have stopped to celebrate with champagne because they probably lost some time.

Brent and Caitie struggled through both tasks, bickering the entire time. Meanwhile, Jordan and Jeff were stuck having to search for marked graves as evening fell.

Louie and Michael were first to arrive, winning a trip to Cancun. Carol and Brandy were second, giving them confidence to believe that they can win Amazing Race. Steve and Allie manage to clinch third despite car trouble (thanks to duct tape). Jet and Cord, after erroneously assuming that the champagne roadblock was located in the city of Champagne, were fourth. Dan and Jordan were fifth.

Brent and Caitie squeaked by with sixth place, leaving Jordan and Jeff in last place. Still, I don't see Brent and Caitie lasting much longer.

This week's Stupid Awards go to Caitie and Jordan who likened Joan of Arc to Noah's Ark, referring to Joan as "he." Yet as Brent pointed out, "Of course Joan of Arc is a girl. Why do you think she's called Joan??" Yet from a tactical standpoint, Victor Jih (at People) gives the Mistake of the Week Award to Jet and Cord both for trusting the wrong people for directions and for not heeding the "La Marquetterie" after "Tattinger."

I'm hoping Jet and Cord will be able to make up some ground next week as they are the most entertaining team on this season's Amazing Race.
