Seven teams remain in the race for one million dollars.
"The Amazing Race" Challenge week 6
The teas were to fly from Norway to St. Petersburg, Russia via a train ride to Stockholm, Sweden.
The detour was a taste of classical Russia, music or classic Russian cinema. The teams who chose classical music had to match music played on three gramophones to live pianists playing the same pieces. The teams that chose film had to match film clips to a movie playing on the screen. Both tasks were very difficult and challenging for every team.
From the classical detour teams were lead to another clue which sent them in search of a Russian neighborhood where they found a roadblock awaiting them. The road block was a Russian drag challenge. The teams had to dress as babushkas, work in the potato field and fertilize the field with manure.
The Pit Stop for this leg of the race was St. Isaac's cathedral.
Jill and Thomas
Jill and Thomas were one of three teams who looked through film clips. It gave them a leg up in the race because they were one of the first teams to finish the Russian classical challenge.
How the teams competed on episode 5 of "The Amazing Race" season 17
They lost their lead in the search for a neighborhood store, but once they found it Jill finished the babushka challenge in no time.
They pulled into place behind Michael and Kevin in the race to St. Isaac's cathedral, but managed to find the pit stop before Michael and Kevin. This was Jill and Thomas' first time winning a leg of the race.
Brook and Claire
Brook and Claire were the first team to get a clue in Russia, but fell behind when they got a cab driver who didn't know where he was going. When they finally arrived at the Russia cinema they met Jill and Thomas on their way out. At first this stunned them, but they made quick work of finding the matching film, beating even Kevin and Michael who had been at the cinema for some time.
Brook and Claire regained a lead when Jill and Thomas got lost looking for the neighborhood store. They found the store first and got to work on a roadblock, the Russian drag challenge. Brook took on the babushka potato planting challenge.
Michael and Kevin
Michael and Kevin were one of three teams that chose the cinema challenge in St. Petersburg, Russia. It was a complex challenge and they were the last of the teams which originally chose that task to complete it, but that still put them ahead of the racers who were detoured by classical music.
Michael and Kevin reached the Russian neighborhood second, where Michael dressed as a babushka.
Michael and Kevin were the first to reach St. Isaac's cathedral, but they were beat to the pit stop by Jill and Thomas and Brook and Claire. Michael should have listened to his father because the pit stop was in the park, right where he suggested from the start.
Nat and Kat
After winning two legs of the race in a row, Nat and Kat began week 6 at an advantage. Psychologically, it is empowering and success breeds success. These two really want to be the first women's team to win "The Amazing Race."
Like the others Nat and Kat were detained at the classical music task. They decided with Vicki and Nick to switch tasks and left behind Greg and Mallory. Nat and Kat were the last team to arrive at the cinema, but of the teams that switched to the classical movie task they were the first to finish.
Chad and Stephanie
Chad and Stephanie started this leg of the race with a spat because they were the last team to find a cab to the airport. Chad and Stephanie make a good team, but their performance has been nowhere near consistent on "The Amazing Race," season 17. Sometimes they get it together and get on the move, and other times they are delayed by simple things.
They grabbed the last taxi to the airport and Chad blamed it on Stephanie getting up and getting out early. Things calmed down when they realized that all teams were on the same flight to St. Petersburg.
There was more frustration as the two tried to sort through classical Russian music. As Nat and Kat left with Vicki and Nick they had no idea that the two teams had not finished the classical music detour, but had switched tasks. Chad was ready to switch tasks, but Stephanie wanted to try to finish the classical music task. As they continued to struggle they once again argued about whether they should stay or move on. Not knowing that other teams were still struggling at the cinema Chad was ready to give up, but he sat back, trusted Stephanie and they were only one of two teams to successfully complete the classical music challenge.
When they reached the babushka roadblock Stephanie donned the dress, but when she was in the middle of the challenge she threw her shovel in the manure to make it more difficult for the next person to reach the challenge. That was a dirty move in more ways than one!
Gary and Mallory
Gary and Mallory were off to a good start, but they were thrown off by the Russian classical music detour. They were the first of the teams listening to classical music who decided to switch tasks and headed to the cinema.
Gary and Mallory were just behind Chad and Stephanie at the babushka roadblock. Mallory took the challenge and, despite getting covered in manure, managed to finish the challenge in short order.
Nick and Vicki
Nick and Vicki chose the classical music detour, and like the other competitors who chose that detour, it was a head spinning challenge. Eventually, they decide, along with Nat and Kat, to switch tasks and head to the Russian cinema.
After a frustrating search at the Russian cinema Nick and Vicki headed back to the classical music challenge. It was almost an unbelievable decision, but they faced the challenge much better than their first go at it and finished it quickly.
Nick and Vicki were the last team to the neighborhood store and the babushka challenge. When Nick heard drag race he was thinking of cars, little did he know he was to put on a dress and play the part of a babushka planting potatoes.

3rd place - Michael and Kevin
