The "American Idol" New Format Will Either Persevere or Tank Miserably

Well its almost time for American Idol to start a new season and the latest from the producers seems to be that Ellen DeGeneres has left due to personal reasons. Understandably, she announced that she was at odds after only one season about having to shatter the dreams of the young contestants and it was too heartbreaking for her. I understand that it bothered her, but in a way didn't she already know that when she originally signed on that it would be hard to pick out the great singers from the good ones, especially during the final few shows. Now the newest news from the Idol camp is that Kara DioGuardi is also leaving the show and its being leaked that it was due to an apparent firing, because the network has decided to go with just 3 judges this year Randy Jackson and two new judges, which according to reports may possibly be Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.

Both new judges are big names, with more experience under their belts than anyone can falter. Steven Tyler front man for Aerosmith has been around the block a few times and will undoubtedly be not only frank about the contestant talent, but has the experience and know how to give the contestants great industry advice. Jennifer Lopez is another artist that has been both a actress and a Grammy winning singer for a long time and who most likely will be able to offer all the contestants not only her knowledge of the industry, but advice on how to improve their vocal and stage presence abilities.

This year in my opinion is going to be very difficult for most any American Idol enthusiasts, considering Simon Cowell will not be present and although many people were very critical of him, it is extremely apparent to many that AI will never be the same without him. When Paula left the show it was a blow, I think most people adjusted to the idea easier because they knew there would still be some kind of drama since Simon was going to push on as he always had while making the best of a awkward situation. However this year brings the hit TV show to a crossroads, the big question will be if the show can survive based on its fan base and the talents the new judges are going to bring, or will the show tank if the network can not deliver on the big names they have been tossing around in hopes of maintaining interest in the new season, which is fixing to kick off. Everyone will be watching intently on whether the network can pull this off or whether it will flounder like a fish going belly up because Mr. Cowell jumped ship. I really don't think many care that Kara or Ellen have left the show, everyone is just anxious to see what the new season will bring.
