The American Idol Winner and Their "Look- Alike" Success

Rebecca Peterson
Sadly, I watched American Idol on Tuesday night with a heavy heart. I am a Michael Lynche fan. His stellar rendition of Frank Sinatra's, "The Way You Look Tonight" sealed the deal for me. Many viewers of American Idol, however, had favorites that are no longer competing, so this is the perfect time for followers to band together and demand the best from the "best." Now I can temporarily remove the chip off my shoulder and simply enjoy these final performances. Besides, there are really only two reasons for why some of the more stronger singers are no longer present: the judges' opinions are being heard as the voice of God, and each current finalist has a "look" I swear that we have all seen before. Okay, okay this kind of applied to Luther, oops I mean Michael Lynche too.

I have my own predictions about the American Idol outcome that I based upon a comparison to each contestants look- and sound-alike. In other words, how might a finalists' performance be affected if he or she had to be individually judged against a similar-sounding and similar-looking performer? Arguably, it may not be the most scientific or realistic method, but it will help me assess finalists who I feel are all equally talented at this point. I will intentionally ignore all of the hype I've heard about the trophy going to Crystal Bowersox. Beatweek Magazine reported Bowersox would win 55% of the votes, and I too believe that that she has a great chance of winning, but that DeWyze will ultimately surprise us all.

Predictions

Crystal Bowersox vs. Joss Stone

After a titillating showdown between Bowersox and Joss Stone, Bowersox would receive 35% of votes for her performance.

Lee DeWyze vs Joey McIntyre

After the sing-off between edgier DeWyze and choir boy McIntyre, DeWyze would take home 45% of votes for his rockin' performance.

Casey James vs. Myles Kennedy

Kennedy would blow audiences away with his vocal range and James would only receive 20% of votes for his low-key melodies.

The stakes are high and viewers of American Idol should have even higher expectations of what they will see and hear from the top 3 competitors in their final performances.

The hype I'm hearing is that Lee is going to win. I thought Michael Lynche blew it out of the park in Sinatra week too. :)
