One can not help but feel the smart American is indeed rare, among the masses. Please understand, I do not mean to insult, I just do not understand, your lack of ability to see, reason and then make a decision on something so simple as racism. I don't care what your parents taught you, you are responsible for your own morals, and beliefs. Your parents taught you racism. Blind acceptance is not what intelligent people do.
Today I heard the term white nigger,
I said, You Americans seam to be racist,
The response, not really, my first experience with racism was when I was a kid, I was a brownie, I was selling cookies with my friend and I asked my mom if my friend could come for dinner when we were finished selling cookies, We sat down at the table, my mom and dad left, so did my brother, I knew something was wrong, after dinner I was told not to bring a black kid home again.
What did you do, I asked.
Well I just never brought one home again,
What do you say when someone is that stupid, I just sat there, not sure what to say, How could someone not figure out for themselves, that their parents were wrong. OK as a child, you accept your parents teaching, but as you leave the nest to see the world for yourself, you are to learn and grown. You are to find your own path, to discard the garbage, to educate yourself, and to learn to form your own opinions. So I ask why didn't you.
When I first sat down at my computer I thought, I am about to upset a lot of people. The minority, the people who can think for themselves know what I am talking about, the other are to stupid to understand, so how can I insult someone who doesn't understand I am calling them stupid. duh
I am not color blind, I am a white women who was raised in the Northwest Territories, back then there were very few white people, I played with the Indians and Inuits. I understood we were different, I learned their ways they learned my ways, it was a celebrations of our differences. I have a great deal of respect for my native friends, I would seek their help and know it was there for me for a number of illnesses i would not use white medicine on.
I now live in Mexico, my neighbors are Mexican, once again I celebrate the differences. Many a laugh has been shared when I gave them food only to see them pull a funny face and spit it out, they have done the same to me. Together we have laughed, I have share my traditions with them and they with me. I now celebrate the Day of the Dead, because I understand , they in turn just love the easter bunny, and we've had great easter egg hunts, and incorporated the easter pinata.to our day of mixed traditions,
That women down the street you don't talk to, she has children just like you, she loves her family just like you and she has intelligence, warmth, and laughter to share, she could be your best friend,
The man, you just called nigger, or chink, or whop, or wetback, could well be the father of your next president. Look at the man, see the gift inside him, then celebrate the differences. You just might want to call him Sir.

Post a CommentChina, you are not going to be very popular with this one. It's great that you are able to see people for what they are instead of what society says they are. I had to really look at myself after reading this. Well-written.
