The Mission Inn Run was started by community volunteers to support the Mission Inn Foundation & Museum and has been running strong for over 30 years. It's become a historic event in beautiful downtown Riverside which brings in runners, families, and the whole community together.
This year's 31st Annual Mission Inn Run will be held on November 9, 2008 starting at 7 AM with a new 1 Mile Run followed by the 5K Run at 7:30 AM and the 10K at 8:30 AM. The 10K course has changed. The 10K will loop twice around the 5K course to make it faster and spectator friendly. The Kids' 1K and 1/2K Run will be starting at 10:30 AM and 10:45 AM respectively. Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in each division and to the top 3 teams in each division. Medals will be given to the top 100 men and top 100 women finishers of the 5K and 10K runs. All children who register and cross the finish line of the 1K or 1/2K Kids Run will get medals.
There are plenty of ways to participate in this event even if you don't own a pair of running shoes. Each year the Mission Inn Foundation solicits help from 250 volunteers. Without their support, this event wouldn't be possible. Volunteers can select from fifteen different volunteer duties such as: handout water to the runners/walkers at the Water Stations, distribute award medals, hand out t-shirts, or help out in the Children's Village.
