The Anti-Mary Kay Movement

The Effect of Mary Kay Blogs

Fighting Fatigue
There has been an extreme amount of hype over the "negative" blogs about Mary Kay. So much so that the President of Mary Kay actually sent a letter to all National Sales Directors regarding them. You can read about it on Pink Truth, the blog formerly known as Mary Kay Sucks. Also, other pro-Mary Kay sites can't seem to quit discussing the existence of these blogs and continually try to defend their position regarding Mary Kay. In doing so, they continue to drive more traffic to these blogs because they can't seem to leave it alone. In continually bringing up the blogs that expose Mary Kay, it appears as though they really do have something to hide. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

I can appreciate the fact that anyone who is successful in Mary Kay would want to defend the company. Yet we are not supposed to exert our right to do the same because our experiences have not been good? Pro-MKers will say that we are all just a minority but the numbers continue to increase with people coming out about their experiences. How many more are out there yet who feel as we do that have not found these outlets to express their concerns?

For those who are working their businesses ethically, great for you. But for those who aren't, and we are finding out every day about more that aren't, then you should be concerned. The fact that these blogs exist should be a warning to the company and everyone in it that all things are not pink and fluffy in the business.

Other blogs that discuss the other side of Mary Kay are My Mary Kay Truth and Up Your Cadillac.

I am not surprised at all that their are those who have had a failed Mary Kay business. The small business failure rate is 50% . The complaints would be similar because owning a business is not easy. It takes a lot of persistance and energy. I'm a Mortgage Loan Consultant and have been for over fifteen years. Its a competitive business and some do well and a lot quit right away. You would have a very busy blog if you had mortgage professioinals venting about how much time and money they've lost recently. But you always have those who do really well and dont give up.. Sales is not for everyone so dont bad mouth Mary Kay its not their fault that some fail and many succeed. Its a way of making ourselves feel better. When we are successful we take the credit but when we fail we make excuses and blame others. Take responsibilty, forgive and move on.

    Mary Kay is a cult

    MK all the way,
It is true, your eyes are opened once you reach directorship...I was really turned off by what I saw after achieving directorship. Also something that is really even worse is that the company supposedly is so supportive of raising funds for breast cancer and they have chemical preservatives in the products that are linked to breast cancer...they are called parabens...check out mercola.com and do a search on it.
It is a shame and I have to admit that I was soo very dissappointed at what I found after being involved for 13 years. Very dishearting to say the least.

My stint with Mary Kay was VERY short, and the reason for it was that immediately after I became a consultant that the people sponsoring me were literally being dishonest with me to get me to sign up. It wasn't until I got my kit and started reading on my own that many of the things they were telling me weren't true. I was also verbally insulted by my upline when I said that I didn't want to take out a loan to buy an inventory, even though I was told before I joined that I didn't have to carry an inventory if I didn't want to. To top it all off, I am also Pagan, and I didn't realize how much of a "Christian" organization Mary Kay was until after I registered as a consultant. When I decided that it wasn't for me, they would not accept a return on the $100 kit because it had been opened...not used. I am not saying that it's a horrible company, because I don't have all of the details. But I do believe in network marketing that so much of your experience depends on the people you are

"It is a cult." That is a great description. It is like an alternative lifestyle for them, and you are absolutely right that they say "God first, family second, career third" but act like it's "Career first, God second, and family last." I always felt very out of place as a Pagan consultant and a dedicated SAHM who just wanted a LITTLE extra cash.

I am not Pro or Anti-MK, but as former MK Sales Consultant, I can say first hand that it is a cult. They say that they are the best product on the planet, and that it is all about God first, family second, and career third, but it is anything but that. It is more like Career first, God second, and family third. I did not like that. In fact, I was glad when I stopped selling MK because I felt lighter. If you have never been a MK Sales Consultant, and you never been to the Sales Meetings, you have no idea what actually goes on there. They want you to dress a certain way, act a certain way, think a certain, and they want you to be completely by the book on everything, and people will critize and say things about you, if you are not what they expect of you. MK to me is a great company, but they could be better if they left God out of it, and if they were more open-minded and changed with the times. Putting God in the picture is not good for any business, I say this not because I am against

I can't believe that someone would start a site against mary kay inc. I have never had any problems in mary kay. It is doing so much for me and my family. I am sad that just because it works for some people and not for others depending on what they want out of it. just like any job you either make that best out of it or quit. I have had so much success in mary kay. I am a few away from going DIQ. i understand that some people don't get to that point, but that is completely up to them. Why would you take something that is so great and talk so bad about it. I am sad for you.

With any company there will be problems and those that are Pro and Anti-Company. I say don't listen to others, judge for yourself.
