The Anti-Aging Benefits of CoQ10 and PQQ
Better Mitochondrial Function with These Enzymes May Prevent Alzheimers, Heart Disease, Diabetes
Mitochondria
The mitochondria of our cells are the portion of the cell that create and manufacture the energy of that particular cell for us, with tiny substances called organelles. Each of our cells that are in different parts of our body possess different amounts of organelles depending on what that body part does for us. For instance, the cells within our muscles are loaded with organelles because of the immense amount of work and energy a muscle does, as compared to the organelles in cells of a body part that doesn't put out as much activity as a muscle has to.
Aging
When we age, the mitochondria of our cells tend to become less efficient and dysfunctional from oxidative damage, and as a result are compromised at producing energy the way they did when we were younger. Is there a way to reverse or enhance the function of our mitchondria? According to the April issue of Life Extension article regarding this issue, there is. This article states that a supplement known as CoQ10 can be very helpful in regard to re-genrating cell function as related to the mitochondria assisting us with anti-aging benefits.
Alzheimer's, Heart Failure, and Diabetes
These diseases are considered biological markers to the degenerated condition of our mitochondria and according to this Life Extension article, research has documented evidence of the fact that the mitochondria of 70 year olds is highly damaged to that of middle aged individuals. That a lot of the poor condition of the mitochondria can be reversed by boosting the health of mitochondria with the therapeutic power of a supplement called CoQ10 as well as another enzyme similar to CoQ10 called PQQ, or Pyrroloquinoline quinone.
PQQ
The Life Extension article states that role of PQQ is now emerging as significant in boosting mitochondrial function which results in better energy output by our cells. As mitochondria begin to fail, this micronutrient will thwart their decay to assist in optimum prolonged mitochondrial function. It also states that researchers have learned of this enzyme's exciting ability to stimulate new growth of fresh mitochondria. New mitochondria will be eager to function and do so at optimum levels.
