The Anvil Restaurant is located in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Just far enough from the hussle and bussle of D.C. but still has that big city taste. This isn't any home cooking it is top notch cuisine. They have a tremendous seafood selection along with food fare for land lovers.

Located in Historic Harpers Ferry it draws in the city folk coming to the country for the day. The atmosphere in the restaurant is up scale. They have a local pub crowd usually drawn in on the weekend. They even have private banquet rooms along with the regular dining facility. It has a turn of the century feel. The linen table, along with the linen napkins are only a glimpse of its sophistication. It is a small romantic setting in the country of Harpers Ferry.

Their seafood selection has quiet possible the world's best crab cakes. Along with shrimp cocktails and other enticing dishes. My favorite is their salads with large portions, you never go away hungry. They are also big on the St. Patrick's Day feast with the traditional corn beef and cabbage. You can alway count on the Anvil for superior dishes. They have a wonderful Prime rib and other juicy steaks. I most recently was there for a baptism party where they did the crab cakes and salad and great chicken salad set up in a buffet style so you could pick and choose for yourself.

The wait staff is very friendly and professional. The bar has an excellent bar tender that can make the best Long Island I have ever had. It taste just like ice tea, which maybe dangerous if you have too many. There are even slot machines in one section for the regular crowd. The restaurant bar is usually packed on the weekend with the local scene.

The prices are a little high, but considering the location in Historic Harpers Ferry, it is a bargain if you go at lunch time. Many of the restaurants down in the historic district are way over priced and have rather small portions. The Anvil maybe a little high in their price, but the portions justify the expense. There is plenty of parking as they have two parking lots, one behind the restaurant and one across the street. This restaurant hosts a lot of the area banquets and does an excellent buffet style course or can even do a preordered menu for your party.

If touring around the Harpers Ferry area, I would suggest heading up toward main town to the Anvil Restaurant for a nice sophisticated lunch that is worth the price you will pay in Harpers Ferry.
