Recap "The Apprentice," Week 6

The women's team, Fortitude, was feeling giddy following a smashing defeat of the men's team last week. Following their debacle with a Rockport fashion show Wade and Gene were fired. The men are down two players and the women left the boardroom fighting like cats.

"The Apprentice," week 6 - The Task - pedicab tour of New York

The teams were tasked with getting a license, creating a tour, and selling pedicab tours of New York.

Kelly stepped to the plate as project manager for the women, while Anand stepped up for the men. Both players had something to prove to Mr. Trump and to their team. Neither could afford to lose, but as always on "The Apprentice" 2010 only one team can win.

This challenge was all about which team could make the most money selling pedicab tours of New York City.

"The Apprentice," 2010 week 6 - Team Fortitude - the women

The teams quickly learned how difficult it was to maneuver a pedicab. All the women passed except Kelly, the project manager and Mahsa. They wouldn't be able to drive, but it didn't have to be a major setback, as they could be utilized to sell the pedicab tours. Besides, they were operating with a larger team than the men.

Kelly assigned Stephanie to pick a route and drive sales. Stephanie decided Wall Street was the best place to sell, riding with the theme "babes on bike." The biggest problem with their concept was that they were not in a tourist area. To make matters worse Liza was offering free rides, which made no sense.

Once they made it through to lunch hour they began to make sells.

"The Apprentice," 2010, week 6 - Team Octane - four players against the women's team

The men all qualified to pedal pedicabs and quickly came up with a niche in which to sell their cab tours. They decided to dress up the drivers and cabs reminiscent of Roman warriors, which really doesn't have anything to do with New York City, but I think they were trying, in their own minds, to create an experience out of the tour.

I thought they should have put more focus on tour content. One thing they got right straight away was the need to pre-sale pedicab rides in New York.

David was a blithe on the men's team from the start. He has nothing to contribute other than smart aleck comments and even showed that side of his character when Ivanka Trump came to check in on the men's team. He may have finally stepped over the edge. While he makes for entertaining TV, he is nothing but a liability to his team.

When the men got to the street to make sells David did more to sabotage sales than to contribute to his team. On the pedicab tour he gave a personal history, not a tour of New York City.

"The Apprentice," 2010 week 6 - The boardroom

There has yet to be a boring boardroom on the 2010 season of "The Apprentice." This week, the men were at it like a pack of wild dogs before they ever found out who won the task. Clint spoke out on behalf of the remaining three men and let Donald Trump know once and for all what a terrible player and businessman David is. Clint went so far as to call David a "loopy, nut."

Against the odds the men's team won the task by a landslide. In the end, it came down to location. The women didn't target the tourist areas and the men were in the heart of the city offering an experience in addition to a tour. The women targeted busy men on Wall Street.

Liza had nothing to do with choosing the location, but all the women piled on Liza to have a scapegoat.

Ultimately Kelly took Liza and Stephanie back to the boardroom. Liza did her assigned task, and, although Stephanie picked the location ultimately Kelly was in charge of making the final decisions. The failure rested squarely on her shoulders. She and Stephanie went at each other like cats in the boardroom.

Donald Trump saw it the same way and fired Kelly from "The Apprentice," 2010 week 6.
