The Apprentice: Is the Title of Celebrity Apprentice for Sale Again This Year?

Judy Elizabeth
You had to see it coming. Clint Black, was going to cut his own throat...eventually. Over the past few weeks, Clint had gotten a little better at hearing his team out, and asking for their input, but at the same time, once Clint makes a decision, there is no changing his mind. So when it comes time to write a jingle, Clint fails to really listen to what the executives want, and is surprisingly quickly and uneventfully, fired.

And so it comes down to Piers Morgan and his interview of Brande, Annie, Joan and Jesse to determine the final two. We've known for weeks that Trump was looking to pit Joan and Annie against each other, and Piers sealed the decision for him. Piers comes right out and states that having Brande in the final would be an insult to the Trump organization, and he's right. Annie completely manipulated Brande, and Brande was totally clueless to it all. Jesse James, on the other hand, is too laid back to make for an interesting final. The only fight we saw in him was when he was arguing with Clint, and even then there was more sulking than anything. So, Annie and Joan it is.

What I am really hoping for is a final in which the title of Celebrity Apprentice can't be bought. That's what happened last year after all, when Simon Cowell stepped in and bought the win for Piers. If it's only about who you know and how much money you can raise, then there's really no point in the show.

To me, the apprentice, celebrity or not, should be the best candidate for a position in one of Trump's organizations. It should be someone who is a good team leader, who knows how to manage a project, and who can make money by selling a service or product to everyday people. The apprentice should be creative, intelligent, and be ready to take on any challenge and the number of wealthy people they know, really shouldn't be a factor.

My favorite episodes are those not the ones where the contestants are asked to raise money, but those in which they are tasked with selling a product, to come up with a marketing campaign, or run an event. I want to see the players judged on their capabilities and those traits that would lead them to success in the business world and in the Trump Organization.

I'm tired of the name dropping. Let's hope for a truly challenging final task and see which candidate really is worthy of the title, "Celebrity Apprentice"!
