The Archos 7 is a Nice Toy but Not Much More

Many people have smart phones and many people have laptops but they do not have something in between. Archos 7 is an attempt at making a product that is in between a phone and a laptop. Some may think this is a great idea while others may not see the point. This Archos 7 8gb home tablet review will clear up whether the Archos 7 is a good idea or not.

The first thing that you will notice about the Archos 7 is the price, at around $200 it is one of the cheapest tablets on the market. One of the downsides to being the cheapest is it is not close to being as good as others. This is an entry tablet model. The idea is that the Archos is supposed to be something between a smart phone and a computer but you can buy netbooks for less then the Archos to give you more computing power and the iPod touch is almost the same thing but with more features. The difference between the Archos and the iPod is that the iPod is geared more towards music then being a computer and it is missing some things to make it a true computer which the Archos does have. Personally though I am not a fan of Apple products so if I was looking at the Archos and the iPod as being equal even in price I would still prefer the Archos.

What Archos has going for it is a low price. The screen is a good size too. Anyone who has used an android OS will be familiar with how to use it. Lots of people complain about the touchscreen not being to good. It does not feature all the apps that you may be expecting limiting its use. The processor is also slow.

I think the Archos misses the mark. It is a nice toy but without lots of things missing like adobe support, no volume control, no blue tooth, and many problems facing it such as a bad touch screen it is not much more then a glorified ebook, mp3 player, or web browser. I would not have to say in this Archos 7 8gb home tablet review that I can not recommend the Archos though. Depending what you want to use it for and what you expect to get out of it the Archos might be a good choice for you. Before buying it though I would look at what you want to use it for, you may be better off with another tablet, or an iPod touch.
