The Art of Subtle Revenge

Donna Cavanagh
It is a part of life; we have all been there
Someone hurt our pride and did us wrong
We plot vengeance and juicy paybacks
The fantasy played out in country music song

As fun as vengeance in our mind might seem
It comes with a costly toll
In your heart, bitterness lives and thrives
And that blackness will take over and gain control

The best vengeance is no vengeance
Never let them see a tear
Those who attacked are hoping for a response
Put aside your hurt and smile from ear to ear

This odd response will keep them off kilter
No satisfaction will they feel for their cowardly act
Your uncaring attitude will diminish their glory
And reveal to them and others the class that they lack

No paybacks are the best paybacks
For those who wanted to hurt will wear egg upon their face
Those who matter will look down upon their actions
But see you as the perfect image of sophistication and grace

You're right. If we do nothing, it irks the other person even more!

Great work Donna and which I totally concur. Revenge is one finger pointing, with 4 others pointing back. I can not caste the first stone, unless it be at me. Great advice.

Love it Donna, but the Italian in me can't ignore a little payback once in a while. When I engage in a bit of payback, it purges my mind and heart of any evil thoughts because I know balance is restored and this person now knows I felt. Sometimes revenge is just karma in fast forward.
