The Art of Using a Bidet

Albert Nlekem Edozien
Bidets are simply toilet seats designed for the washing of the genitals and anal area. Different types of bidets exist with different features. Some form part of the toilet while others do not. Some are even hand held. Whichever way, they all serve the same purpose, from the stand alone bidets to Japanese and even French bidets. They are common in Europe and Asia and are just being accepted in other parts of the world. To eliminate embarrassment or confusion when you come in contact with one, you need to know what function it serves and how to make use of it.

Whatever type of bidet you come across, just know the idea is to wash your private part thoroughly and efficiently especially after using the toilet or having any discharge as the case may be while maximizing hygiene. You can also use it to freshen up anytime you desire.

How do you make use of it?

If what you have is a low sink that looks like a seat-less toilet, fill the bowl up with water and straddle it to wash. If the bidet has a nozzle, all you need do is to extend the nozzle which is spraying water on your private part and wash clean. Bidets with nozzles usually have a separate supply of warm and cold water. Make your choice. Look out for a fan and/or a warm air dryer and help yourself with the controls when you are done with washing.

Some bidets can also provide the service of massage while you listen to music. Getting familiar at this point, right? Relax your nerves while you get something soft playing in the background. That's how generous and friendly this mystery called a bidet can be.

The bidet improves your hygiene immeasurably especially if it is built into your toilet. It saves you a lot of discomfort and is recommended for the physically challenged, disabled and the elderly. It helps with hemorrhoids which usually get worse with the use of toilet paper. Pregnant women also find life easier with a bidet. In the case of diarrhea, the patient can be sure of preventing bacteria by cleaning with warm water every now and then.

Then there's the feeling of being clean and fresh which is exclusive to you alone. Make no mistake, the bidet is not a luxury. It is a necessity if you intend to guard your personal hygiene jealously. Pick up the habit of making use of them regularly.
